What breaks my heart about Edward is the fact that he spent all his time alive and dead beating himself up for something Ramsley lied to him about. He thinks Elizabeth killed herself because of something he did. All that anger, all that hatred, all that pain, was for himself. He never wanted to hurt her. He felt like he killed her, so he felt it was only fair that he kill himself as punishment for what he thought he did.

When I watched this film as a child, it did strike me as a little odd that at no point did Sarah find anything even slightly weird or off putting about mr Gracey's interest in her. Looking at it now, I realize it was all because Jim hasn't been paying proper attention to her for a while, so of course mr Gracey being really keen on hearing what she has to say would be quite refreshing.

Even as a young girl when I first watched this movie after renting it from Civic for a week I knew Master Edward Gracey/Nathaniel Parker was mighty fine! My heart leapt when I saw him for the second time as Arthur's maternal Uncle in Merlin!

EDIT: The eyeliner game is real though rewatching as an adult!
