This ordering "blind" like you know what the menu says was also done on The Andy Griffith Show when Andy and Barney visit the big city and order dinner at a French restaurant; Barney (forever trying to look good and impress others) pretends to the waiter that he understands the meals on the menu and picks out two things by pointing at them. When the waiter confirms their orders he says "Snails and brains" for Barney's choices. Andy did the right thing and asked for steak and a baked potato. :D
