Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a policy approach in which manufacturers are held responsible for the environmental impact of their products throughout their entire lifecycle, including their disposal or recycling. This approach shifts the burden of managing the environmental impact of products from governments and taxpayers to the manufacturers who produce them.

Extended Producer Responsibility aims to encourage manufacturers to design more sustainable products, reduce the environmental impact of their products, and promote the recycling and proper disposal of their products. It also aims to ensure that the costs of managing end-of-life products are reflected in the price of the products themselves. Extended Producer Responsibility is applied to variety of products like packaging, batteries, electronic waste, tires and many more.

In the video, Shabbir A Bashir (CAO & Faculty, Edukemy) outlines the Extended Producer Responsibility in the Analysis with Shabbir Sir in detail.

The video is important for all aspirants preparing for UPSC CSE and will be useful both for Prelims and Mains.
