The Most Expensive Thing I Ever Made

This piece was commissioned for $6,000, and it took an estimated 60 hours of work over 2 months to complete. Much of that time was dedicated to a meticulous finishing process, in order to get a virtually flawless surface along with the durability of a waterproof resin finish. For me, commissions of this magnitude are few and far between, so it means a great deal when you, my wonderful viewers, engage with and share my videos. You are the stabilizing force that saturates this gnarly, rotting burl of a channel. Without you, my videos are likely to shatter into little pieces on the floor like a stress-fractured end-grain cookie at 500 rpm.

If you enjoy this content, please consider Liking this video and Subscribing, and make sure you have that Bell icon turned on so you get notified when I upload new videos. I also read every Comment, and I respond to as many of them as I can! Sharing my videos with your friends also really helps keep this channel afloat and enables my growing family's addiction to food!

Big thanks to @TotalBoat for providing the penetrating and high performance epoxies, which enabled this piece to be fully functional as a waterproof vessel.

Also thanks to @StarbondAdhesives for supplying the CA glue used in this video:

OUTSTANDING, David!!!! I still miss your intros of beautiful scenery that you once put into your videos. That gave a lot of class to your great wood turning videos.

I hope you and your bride are doing well these days!!!!

I have no idea how many hours in total went into this piece, many I suspect, but the result is worth every single one of them.

Always a great day when another David Adamsen video drops. I'm not usually a fan of the epoxy final finish but, as usual, you've done it right and sanded it to perfection. It's the attention to all the little details that makes your videos so amazing. Thanks!

David, I was absolutely transfixed by the meticulous process. I thought it was gorgeous in its natural state at the very beginning of the video, but when it was finished it was just stunning and the most beautiful thing of its kind that I’ve ever seen. Bravo!

Sir … you are worth $100/hr … your work speaks for itself!!! It has since I have watched you … maybe only a couple years now … but I have watched them all & especially loved the video when you upgraded your Lathe with the shipment of wood from a fellow Maine-iac!!! Just kidding, people from Florida are Floridians … up here in Alaska we are Alaskans … Im unsure how your state extends the name to its residents. You are an amazing wood turner … as are Jack Mack & Andy Phillip … yours & their turning talents & photography talents are one & the same … HIGH QUALITY!!! So worth whatever time you choose to give us in your videos!!! The only thing that you all three do NOT do is show us who you are. Such a tease, as I feel that you all are as beautiful as your work!!!

Regardless, I am thankful that you healed after your hunting accident & was able to come back to turning … you would have been a great loss to us all. I am also very happy for you & your wife for your healthy new son. God has blessed you greatly. I look forward to every one of your future videos!!!
