Yes, you are honoring scripture. The Spirit connects matching symbolism. Just like the symbolism of the beast relates back to Daniel, this is relating back to Joseph's second dream in Genesis 37.

The interesting part about chapter 12 in Revelation, is that all but the last verse has already been completed. Whether the woman represents Israel or not has not been given or even explained that way. However, it makes sense that many think of her as such since Jesus was an offspring of Israel. But I see her as representing much more.

12:1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. (This is the plan of salvation)

12:2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. (The plan, conceived by God and others in heaven, are ready to start the prophecies in action)

12:3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. (This is no doubt Satan and his glory in heaven)

12:4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. (Satan knew of the plan and anticipated Jesus would soon rule the earth, so he threw those who followed him and ones he commands to earth to stop Jesus. These are the ones that Satan commands even today. Luke 11:15)

12:5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. (Satan is the ruler of this world, and was so called by Jesus, John 12:31. HOWEVER, to Satan's surprise Jesus was not placed on earth in his spirit form, but was taken to heaven to the throne of God first. There he lived and learned the ways of God before coming to earth. Luke 10:22, John 8:38)

12:6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. (There is no real biblical explanation for this time frame, unless you go back to the conception of salvation. Adam died on the Sabbath Day towards the middle or end of it. Going backwards from Abraham on through the day of Rest to Adam, takes you back to a time before the great flood. The conception of salvation was done then. This would be the time frame from prophecy conceived to Abraham, in years)

12:7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, (this war took place long before Jesus came, and he mentions it in Luke 10:18, but after the time of Job. Job 1:6)

12:8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. (Satan and his commanded angels did not prevail against Michael his angels. Obviously this was a huge war that took place out of the sight of mankind since it was in heaven)

12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Satan cannot return to heaven anymore)

12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. (What Jesus did, was defeat Satan and his angels in heaven long before he ever came to earth. This why it says salvation and strength has come to heaven)

12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (A confusing verse indeed. While this appears to point to mankind in some respect, because we think of our lives as we die, it does not. Mankind did not have Jesus on earth at this time. This means many angels must have died in the great war defending Jesus and his plan. Remember, it said a war broke out in heaven, not a dispute. There are casualties in this war, even with spirits and angels)

12:12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time." (This is saying how Salvation has come to those who dwell in heaven, and that they should now rejoice. However, those of earth and the sea are to tremble because of what Satan will do to destroy each one, or control those whom he can)

12:13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. (At this point, Satan has realized he is an outcast. He then starts by separating Israel and mankind from God, and planning for the attack on Jesus when he comes as found in Dan 9:26)

12:14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. (The woman is a spiritual woman, and awaits the end of prophecy and gathers those who are chosen into her bosom. The wilderness means she is not in heaven, and nourished means she is being fed with good fruit of people who die in faith since the flood. Times, Time, and Half a Time is 7, 000 years. This is the time from the day after the Day of Rest, to the next Sabbath Day. The plan of salvation and Jesus was born before the great flood, before Noah, and before Abraham. John 8:58. And all bible prophecy ends at the end of this 7, 000 years)

12:15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. (Satan spewed words at her and said many good things about her and likely made promises to her. This is the water. However, Jesus is the water and the life, not Satan, and the woman knew this and ignores Satan. John 4:14)

12:16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. (Since Satan is bound to earth, he cannot touch or influence her, or any person joining her. Therefore, the earth keeps him bound and helps the woman)

12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (This is the only scripture in this chapter that is past, present, and future. This involves those who served God since the flood, and through the law, and now onto those who have faith in Jesus. All are, and have been persecuted by Satan)

Here is what scripture tells us of this woman.
Isaiah 66:7-8 KJVS
[7] Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. [8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Apostle Paul also tells us in Galatians who the mother of the body of Christ is.

[26] But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Jerusalem above is heavenly Sion, He 12:22. The man child mentioned in Revelation 12 is caught up to the throne of God, Rev 12:5. Contextually this event takes place between the second and third woe. The three woes are linked to the last three trumpets, Rev 8:13. The third woe takes place quickly after the second woe, Rev 11:14. Third woe of course is when Satan is cast down to earth, Rev 12:12.
If Rev 12:5 is the rapture of the body of Christ, then it takes place at the seventh trumpet, Rev 10:7, 11:15.

How could Rev 12 speak about Jesus birth?! That is unbiblical, sorry! Was not Jesus who sent his angel to John to show to his servants "TINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS" which God revieled to him/Jesus/?! - Rev.1:1
Rev 12: 1÷5 wonder which we saw pictured on heaven in 2017, as the entire Rev 12 reviels us the FUTURE THINGS which will come to pass shortly : the rapture of the church /the body of Christ - mail child/ and rhight after that - tribulation /Jacob's trouble or Daniel's 70th week/.

The Males Child born to the woman is a (huios is traditionally the Term used for Son of God strongs 5207 or for John the Baptist coming in the power of Elijah Luke 1/57 Huios ) is different from the child raptured ( her child was caught up to God) the term used is teknon strongs 5043 traditionally used for the church). How wrong can you be? In one instance you justify the symbolism in another you deny it just because it concerns Mary. The woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet with a crown of twelve stars is Mary the mother of Jesus. Interpreting this woman as the Jews (Old Israel) exclusively gives a problem because if that is so, how do you explain that it is the same Jews (Woman according to you) who crucified Jesus. Has the woman turned against and murdered her own son? It was the same Jews who were the first to persecuted Christians. Remember Stephen? In the Jewish religion there is no room for Jesus or Christianity. How can the woman turn against her son and her Children (Christians)? No! Your interpretation does not fit. The woman is Mary, the mother of Jesus. John is telling us of the honor she received in heaven (Clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet) and that she is crowned queen of heaven (Crown of 12 stars) because of the role she played in salvation history. In order for God to incarnate and become man He took the flesh and blood of Mary and was born to save the world. It is a befitting reward that she has received in heaven because he son who is God honored her thus. That is why we Catholics honor her as well because God honored her first by asking her to provide her flesh and blood to the God-man - Jesus!
