For me personally, I interpret this song as a story of a man who once had a long relationship with someone, but she ended up married with another man.

"So come on, come on, throw it all away" is the voice of his heart telling him to throw all the memories away, so his heart will be saved at her wedding day "save your heart for a rainy day".

"For no one knows the price you'll pay" means if he dare to come to her wedding, only God knows how it would impact his feeling or even his life afterwards.

That's why he said to himself that "I won't be there that day".
