📈 How Can NIO's ONVO Become BIG?

After the visit to the ONVO Showroom, I have some additional thoughts about how to scale the ONVO brand, and learn from the best in class: Bytedance. Applying their 3 - 7 - 21 rule could help NIO's sub brand ONVO to think out of the box and apply guerrilla marketing tactics.

Great content as always, those expecting Onvo just to sell well because it's a NIO sub-brand are sadly mistaken. Hopefully Nio takes notes from this content

Thank you for this video of yours which explains very well the insertion of a new brand especially if it is new.
Yes, marketing is a fundamental thing, you can have the best product in the world but if you are not known,
then set up shops in strategic points with high traffic and visibility and, as you say, go to less expensive rental areas.
Furthermore, applying discounts at the beginning is fundamental, to make yourself known and appreciated.
It is not a price war but rather to attract and promote the new brand or product,
and promote with trial tests, driving to explain the technology on board and all the services,
perhaps this to orient not only a younger audience but also less young people.
Congratulations for the video and thanks for the updates and fed back from Onvo by NIO
😉👍👏

Interesting vid Marcel.

I would caution going after real estate that’s cheap just because it’s cheap. It’s usually cheap for a reason. Also, a store setup and operation is quite costly wrt all the human resources.

I do agree that NIO needs to spend more on advertising. And perhaps doing a lot of pop up displays would be good.

All this said, the. Onvo launch is still very very young. It’s only been out for about 10 weeks, and they’re doing ok. Let’s give them at least 18 weeks to see where they get to.

very insightful, thanks Marcel. I also think Onvo should play on the more "popular" aspect as it's targeting more modest customers and it needs to grow fast

All these marketing and sales initiatives cannot be available right now. They need to scale first. Onvo can't even attend the current demand yet.

Once production bottlenecks are gone, then you jump to it.

How does it work when it comes to battery swapping? Do you buy the battery up front or just pay a subscription for using the battery? If you don’t buy the battery when you buy the car, the up front cost would be a good headline price in comparison to brands without battery swapping infrastructure. Make sense from a depreciation point of view as well. If the battery was too shit itself, it’s not the purchasers problem.
This concept is a golden opportunity.

2:24 is that transformer? Which is something in a big power plant. Is that for NIO battery swap station?

Thanks Marcel I very much agree with your way of marketing Suggestions especially for ONVO. I get the impression that Mr Li likes to image himself like a copy of Steve Jobs or Tim Cook with his presentation and NIO day shows etc. and maybe thinks ever one is only interested in a NIO or ONVO product. My opinion is that The company needs a very professional marketing director with experience in the auto industry.Further believe that the battery swapping idea together with also charging is not getting that much attention to the potential buyer

I think it makes sense! Better to be on the road rather than the mall. It will be cheaper and they can have more locations!

XiaoMi CEO Lei Jun is a great salesperson. NIO CEO has a lot to learn from him. He just doesn't seems to catch attention.

I agree. In a mall, there are so many toys for customers to browse through. But in a place like this, you are THE toy.
