I was addicted to pills then heroin for 8 years from the time I was 17 to 25, and I was homeless for the last 3 of those years. There is no such thing as dignity or quality of life for an addict, no matter how the well-intentioned leftists try to frame it for their peace of mind. I was a beast of a man- barely a man at all. Eventually something changed. I spent 30 days in county jail for trespassing. I went through hell drying out in there, and after that I was sent to an intensive outpatient program run by University of Cincinnati Hospital. I lived in a halfway house, attended group therapy, submitted to a biweekly drug screening, and eventually I started seeing my own therapist. I've been sober for 11 years. Now I live with my wife and child in our own home, working as a CNP for the same medical center that treated me. They also paid my tuition at UC while I worked there as a custodian. LA and San Francisco think they can give a person dignity and ease the suffering of addicts by accommodating their addictions, but they're dead wrong. They've made these people worse than ever, and the evidence of that is clear as day. Also, I see the same therapist to this very day.

Joe Rogan covered it and talked about how the people who are supposed to solve the homeless problem are getting paid close to $300k a year. There's no motivation to solve a problem when you're getting paid that much.

The activists motivations are nothing to be shocked at. Orwell observed similar vengeful motives in the socialists of his day. They act out of hate and use morality as a shield.

I saw a Joe Rogan clio the other day where the guest said city councils have departments in charge of managing the homeless. The people running these are paid very well and if homelessness was solved or reduced dramatically they would be out of a job. It's in their interest to keep it going.

California wanted this, they kept voting for it over and over again, they deserve everything they voted for.

Ireland housing is a disgrace as well. Millions for one bedroom apartment while illegal migrants get the same houses for free. They even have laws illegal migrants get to kick native Irish off housing lists to get houses first

I grew up in Seattle WA, and I ended up homeless in my 20's around 2008. I had a full time job, and was not on drugs. The drugs came after... I managed to make out of that hell hole with help from my mom and sister. The biggest factor in my recovery was getting the F away from Seattle, and moving to another state completely.

It’s disgusting here too. For years many of us in the forces community have campaigned for decommissioned barracks to be re-purposed to home homeless ex forces. For years the UK government said it wasn’t possible yet then comes illegal immigrant crossings and the use of barracks is possible at breakneck speeds!

The fact that activists are stopping treatment is unbelievable how can you claim to care then interfere in a treatment.

My husband visited San Francisco several times for his work and he was absolutely shocked by what he saw. This was over 4 years ago. He took loads of photos and I couldn't believe what he showed me. Tons of drug addicts all over the streets and in some cases, people covered in their own bodily fluids and walking around like zombies. Even in the up-town tourist areas, there were so many of these kinds of people suffering. I can't even imagine what it must be like now 😲😨😱🤦‍♀

I moved to Sacramento, Cali from PA around 2018.
I left around 2021.
Never before had I seen so many homeless people.

If Californians shun this guy for Governor, they deserve everything that’s coming…last chance saloon for California now.

They always need something for their hearts to bleed over, it's their currency.

This is a problem within UK cities, a number of NGOs and Charities rely on increasing homeless populations, they don't want to see destructive behaviour criminalised but rather "treated" (which doesn't work on its own.)

I've had stand up rows with charity 'representatives' who claim to be 'experts' but in reality they're doing nothing but making problems far worse in our urban centres.

We have some of this nonsense in Wisconsin, too. They have "low income housing" where in order to live there you have to make under a certain amount of money, but the amount they charge to live there is almost unaffordable at the income level you have to be at. Pretty much forces people to stay at low income or face eviction, actively incentivizing people to stay poor.

I'm reminded that a guy in california, possibly San Fran, tried to help the homeless by spending his own money to make small decent quality mini homes for the homeless that they could use to take shelter, keep their few belongings safe, and hopefully start putting their lives back together. He made them small, mobile, and look nice so people wouldn't have a problem with them especially compared to the original homeless camps that were in the area. Then the city police came in, confiscated all the mini homes, and toss the people back on the street right were they were without any excuse for why. I am convinced that lady wants to make the problem worse to keep the huge budget so she can keep laundering the money.

"Left libertarian" means "I get to do whatever I want, and you have to pay for it if I can't afford it". Which is not very libertarian by the standard of anyone who knows what words mean.

I was a fentanyl addict for 8 years, I've been clean for 5. When I was on it no one had ever heard of it and it was extremely hard to get, now it's everywhere. It's a hellish lifestyle and Suboxone is what finally gave me my life back. I eventually got to the point where I was so exhausted I had to quit, but if you have never experienced withdrawal it is almost impossible to explain how all encompassing it is. After the first year I was no longer 'trying to get high' I was just trying to not be sick.

I've called it "Big Homeless" for years now.

It's all over the UK too.
