Nice vide. Good job.
Do you know all the heatsinks including the northbride /w fan performs better than the regular evga x58 e758 older motherboard?

yes. beside the cpu socket there is a 8 pin cpu power connector(NOT 8 PIN PCI-E). this needs to be plugged into the power supply for it to work correctly.

@traingp7 there is about 1/4 of an inch or .7 cm in between the top video card and the fan plus the fan is on a slight angle upward so the size increases.

@Aviation7997 correct. you can populate all of the slots for a x16, x8, x8 setup. with todays graphics cards there is no performance drop at all by using x8.

@Mohagrus The D14 will fit on this board however you may have some memory clearance issues. It will clear the NB fine tho. May I suggest going with a Corsair H70 because it will run much quieter, cooler, will look better, and you will not have any clearance issues.

@Kyushu79 ya. evga has a winner here. i was saying that the parts were getting a little warm because im using water cooling. the NB is by far the warmest thing in the system however 65 is nothing to worry about.

I have had good success with this board however, It only has 1x8 pin cpu power. I currently have my i7 930 running at 3.8ghz with no problems. If u buy this board you will want to run a 40mm fan on the north-bridge, and ensure you have some airflow over the mosfet area of the board. I have liquid cooling so i have a 120mm fan blowing across the ram and cpu socket area. If you dont then you may have some overheating issues. Other than that it is a solid board and runs great.

@TeddyCooper69 sounds good if you are gonna film the rig build then go for it. just to give you a little tip tho if there isnt a specific reason you need a aux soundcard dont waste your money on one. the onboard audio on the x58 ftw3 is the best i have ever heard and has some of the best firmware and software i have ever run.

Hey,

You are right, not much reviews on this. Did you get it running? which i7 did you pop in there? How does it overclock? any feedback would be nice.

Thanks again.

@hosrom i have my system runing strong. i have a 4.2 ghz overclock running nicely, with liquid cooling. voltages are very stable, better then most other boards ive used. i used the intel core i7 930.

@TeddyCooper69 this is true. at the point at when i got my motherboard the slots ran at 16x and 8x with 2 cards. now withthe newest bios update that has fixed it and it runs at 16x, 16x.

i agree the bios does need a lot of work.

So the power supply plugs into the 24 pin connector (obviously) and what about the 6 or 8 pin next to the CPU? that also connects to the power supply? My motherboard is on it's way..just wondering. Thank you!

How is that chipset fan going to intake air when you have a video card directly underneath it. It looks like a video card would be right underneath of it giving it no room to intake air into the fan.

@TeddyCooper69 i just tried that in my rig for you. it does bump the 2nd 470 to 8X. also running 1 8x makes no difference in performance. i am running 2 gtx 470 and a 9800gt in the order 470, 470, 9800 the second 470 is 100% sand witched. it runs about 2 degrees hotter then the top card. the way the 470 is shaped the intake is off the back of the next card by about 1cm. i would also recommend getting a 9800 gt or better for physx. for $100 you get about 30% more FPS in every game that uses physx.

@sacredchemistry That setup will fit fine.

@jwaggz82 SATA3 and SATA6 are the same thing. SATA3 (the third revision) is also known as SATA6 (6Gb/s).

@thermalz0mbie no i have all of my system running at 100% all of the time. all of my fans are below 20db so can use 100% all the time.
