2024 Ford F-150 Lightning: Likes and Dislikes

The Ford F-150 Lightning debuted for the 2022 model year as the first regular-production all-electric pickup truck from a mainstream manufacturer. When it first went on sale, the Lightning’s only EV pickup competitor was the Rivian R1T, but it has more rivals now, including the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the GMC Hummer EV and Sierra EV. We’ve tested those rival trucks, and while they all have their strong points, the Lightning still stacks up well against them even though it hasn’t seen any major changes since its debut.

I just bought a Flash trim level and like it so far. I got $5000 off sticker plus $3000 in rebates 0% financing and Ford is giving a free level 2 home charger with free basic installation. The truck is comfortable to ride in a quieter than my wife's Acura MDX inside.

Buy one used if you really want one. It’s half the price.

Range is fine for most trips. Also charge at home 95% of the time, unless there's a free charger on the road (home charger is a must and get 30% fed tax credit). Charge while sleeping, just like your smart phone

EV roadtripping is not battery percentage. You charge to the next best stop in 100-150 miles. With Tesla superchargers, the anxiety is gone and Wawas are pretty good in the northeast for rest stops/baby changes

Expected battery life? Battery replacement cost? expected depreciation rate? Battery performance in cold winter climates? These are all very important questions to ask when considering a vehicle like this, or at least for those of us who have to live within budgets.

Completely agree about the controls. Very frustrating design. Great to drive and I love the truck. I just hate the infotainment and climate controls.

The Tesla's only veers in looks, not capability, AND is more capable off road and towing.

Why the front seat backs are so small, especially for a full size truck, 1/2 ton? U look either like a giant or the opposite, as if u r sitting in kids seats. Same continues problem with Honda pilot and passport. Audi and VW is the exact opposite. A 6.1 man's shoulders align with the top of the back rest/seat of the front row. And then u have the headrest at head/neck level. Ford and Honda designers make the shorter front row back rests. Bar none.
