The MTA, the Port Authority and their law enforcement partners kick off the summer driving season with a campaign to nab people who drive with fake or obstructed license plates. CBS2 political reporter Marcia Kramer says it costs the agencies millions of dollars and officials are determined to go after drivers who break the law to avoid tolls.

I remember when tolls were created to pay for bridges. Now it's all about revenue.

Remember tolls were supposed to pay for the bridges which have been paid for hundreds or thousands of times . So why are they still collecting tolls? It went from paying for the bridges to revenue collecting .

Need to ban together and vote to get rid of tolls. In my city tolls are banned. They tried to set it up, people said, No.

We literally pay for this. It's robbery, extortion and higher cost. But... idc about that. What bothers me is that the focus should be for safety purposes of people leaving scene of accidents. Leaving scenes of crimes and unable to trace.

But sure... it's about the money. The money Is the focus!!! Ridiculous

it doesn't " cost" anything to drive over a bridge, stop making it sounds like some type of resource is being consumed. These tunnels and bridges will remain open and standing regardless of anyone using them. These tolls are outrageously expensive and NY is going to add a congestion fee on top of it. MTA/NY wants money because they can't budget their own finances. They get bailed out after bailed out and still fail. It's upsetting because we, motorists and straphangers, have to pay for their shortcomings.

I’m fine with this, they put those stupid speed cams on every block. Scamming hard working people.

“The money you owe us” line says it all. We the people need to take back our country & get rid of these people who think they can impose any restrictions they want on us, just because they feel like it.

“And we will collect on the money that you owe us”. This appears to be the main function of local, state and federal government these days.

How tf do you owe 20, 000+ in toll fees… y’all don’t see an issue with that?

Actual criminals continue to terrorize the city but anyone they can get money out of will pay. If you put a piece of plastic over your license plate, or if you put a piece of plastic in a black garbage bag and not in a recycle bag - you will pay.

No you're not going to get stopped. Motorcycles without license plates are going through red lights by the hundreds every hour of the day in New York City, and the cops just watch them go by as though it's a Thanksgiving Day parade.

I can't wait until they start charging you for the air you breath too.

Id like to point out that this is where the issue lies. You want for people to come back to work within the city, but turn around & charge them $30 for a bridge or tunnel crossing. Then you wonder why the public gets mad & leaves for other less expensive cities. Also, you spend a lot on decor rather than maintnence.
But hey, lets focus on fare & toll evasion.
I feel like im just donating money to all of society that doesnt need it.

Maybe if the tolls weren't so damn expensive people would not be evading them. Ny is one of the greediest scummiest states in the country. Thank God i moved out and wont ever be coming back.

Gotta pay tolls if you work in the city. Traveling to other boroughs you have to pay tolls, gas prices ridiculous, can’t find parking, traffic everywhere, speed cameras popping up everywhere. Something gotta give. These streets are awful, pot holes smh

Crossing the bridge is now a business for the city. Revenue is out of control. Brides are out of control. Ez pass taking hundreds from customers crossing.
