In this episode, we explore a strange and amazing discovery of a blob of gas that is orbiting the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, and shooting powerful gamma-ray radiation at Earth every 76 minutes. We explain what this blob is, how it was detected, where it came from, and what it means for our knowledge and curiosity about the black hole and the galaxy. We also discuss some of the questions and implications that this discovery raises for future research.

I love the scientific name given to currently unknown galactic objects "the blob". Awesome!

" it's not just a random blob spinning out there " - love such technical talk

Our knowledge is growing exponentially. There is more discovery to learn about every day than time to learn it.

Even the blackhole is moving around the blob . You can imagine the mass of it.

space is so interesting & we have only seen very little of what it has to offer

Gamma rays are over 3 times stronger than Alpha and Beta radiation. In terms of ionizing potential, yes alpha radiation is stronger than gamma radiation. However, gamma radiation carries more energy and can penetrate through many types of matter and living tissue due to its being electromagnetic energy rather than a particle like an alpha or beta particle.

Just trying to understand: isn’t this actually something that was occurring 26000 years ago that we are only able to witness now since enough time has passed for the light has traveled this far?

We are a very young Creation in this universe I mean very young in the grand scope of the universe we are a mere minute existence billions of galaxies and the mere scope of our galaxy is so massive it is quite an overwhelming thing to think about

So the gamma rays are traveling at with the 26, 000 light years away and it’s hitting us with a gamma rays at far away. That is amazing.

Life is so "boring" on Earth compared to the wonders of outer space

Solar storms weather in the universe such also interactions with nebulas clusters concliding and reactions. Also one galaxies interactions with another galaxy causes such like solar distress or like weather storms in the heaven also.

Could these blobs be common enough to create forces able to explain the perceived effects of dark energy?
