I am a Catholic Biologist and Ecologist, and I want to leave a positive message. There are real threats that humans do pose on the environment. I think being a good steward means leaving the world a better place than we found it. It’s important to teach our children how they can help to take care of our home on earth. They deserve clean air, water, and the services nature provides. Like Jackie and Bobby said in the video, a huge part of helping is redistributing resources and reducing overconsumption. This is in our power as humans and fosters the respect for life around the world. Human life is beautiful. Peace :)

I'm a Catholic in Ireland. I was raised an only child, but I had a younger sister who passed on 15 years ago, aged 2 years and 7 months. My father came from a family of 5, and his mother came from a family of 22!

The native population is decreasing rapidly here in Ireland. Most elderly people here are natives, and they're being shoved into nursing homes and killed by the virus. Nobody has any respect for the elderly or unborn anymore. It's so sad.

I may only be 19 years old, but someday (once I'm married) I want to have 7-10 kids. I want to teach them to speak as Gaeilge, I want to teach them to live sustainably, but above all, I want to help them to know and to love God, and to know that God loves them.

♡ Peace be with you ♡

I grew up in a large Catholic family. I’ll never forget when someone, a Catholic, said to me, “ I never understood why your mother had so many children.” My reply was, “ well, I wouldn’t be here if she didn’t.”

Thanks Jackie and Bobby for thinking 'outside the box' over overpopulation and environmentalism issues. 'God will provide.'

Life creates hope. Hope creates responsibility. Responsibility creates mercy. Mercy creates forgiveness. Forgiveness creates love. Love creates life.

Take out one, and the rest disappear.

Wow, I cant believe it.. literally perfect timing. Today I was reading about overpopulation problems, solutions and I thought about Gods purpose for us on Earth and if there is such thing as too many people. Thank you so much!

I completely agree that overcrowding is a big issue, not overpopulation. A growing population is actually the foundation of EVERY social program. You MUST have X number of working people paying the taxes to cover the expenses of the retired person. Social Security started with about 32 people working for every retired person. We are heading towards 3 to 1 ratio ... its a very scary, unsustainable trajectory! But more than that, a political power goal is to keep people concentrated and in need of government support to control more people that way. People widely spread out, self sustained, paying their own bills, owning their own homes, etc. is much harder to exert political power over. A highly concentrated population that has a high percent use of public programs (housing, food, health, transportation) is much more vulnerable to political power.

TBH the people that often say they’re not having kids because of overpopulation or climate change are the exact people I don’t really want spreading their values and ideas to future generations so in their case I don’t have a problem with it. Not if they’re murdering babies obviously but as a general principle.

I used to live in a quiet town. 10 years later there’s nothing in my town but criminals, teenagers ugh, and litter everywhere

B. G. has no doubts about this. And he does everything he can...vaccines for everyone for everything from cradle to grave. So successful he is

I come from The Netherlands, according to many articles I read you would say it's a rich country and people are happy here. But I do see a problem with overpopulation because of the following reasons:
- There are almost no houses for the population here. Literally there are tens of thousands of young people who live with their parents because there are no houses. The prices have become so incredibly high that almost only the rich can afford housing. There are protests going on because of this. This country is build to almost the max and the nature is almost entirely gone, so just "building more houses" is not the easy answer.
- Health care is becoming increasingly harder to get. There are docters that just say NO. And hospitals that deny people because it's full. And it's not just because of corona by the way. The general practitioners
even started saying we can't take more patients. There are people who can't go to the doctor in The Netherlands. And still they claim it's a rich and wealthy country.
- Electricity and fuel have become more and more expensive. I mean literally doubled and sometimes trippled in price from the last two years. Every year it's becoming more expensive. As a consequence food has also become more expensive and pretty much all products have.

How can you still say that there aren't too many people when the available resources are declining rapidly with the given knowledge I just presented? You actually stimulate humans making more humans?

Thank you for sharing this! I grew up protestant and my family very much bought into the idea of overpopulation and how it was bad to have big families. My hubby and I are taking catechism classes to become Catholic at a local latin mass parish and are so excited! Both my husband and I have always wanted a big family. This video cleared up so many misunderstandings I grew up with, thank you!

As a Christian and economics major I will point out that thankfully the academic community doesn’t support Malthus’s ideas anymore... yes his ideas were popular for some time but that has been strongly refuted and disproven as you say. Also yes in the US and developed countries we have plenty of food, but this is not the case all over the world. And if climate change exceeds too much, we could be seeing food and water shortages in cities but also in rural areas too. God gave us free will, and we must be careful with the resources he gave us and use them cautiously. Just because he wants us to populate the Earth doesn’t mean that the Earth can support endless amounts of people. Not saying I agree with Malthus but just saying that we do need to become more innovative and find more sustainable ways of living in order to glorify God and maintain life on Earth. The problem isn’t that we are here, it’s how we are living that is the problem. Too much materialism and too much corporate profits over caring for humanity. Perhaps people may need to learn farming techniques themselves in order to live sustainability in the future, or we will need to better distribute the resources we have to care for as many people as possible. Right now the world is divided between those who have and others who have not. I see how climate change could lead to these radical ideas like Malthus’s but I never want to lead people away from caring for the Earth. It’s not false, the facts are there, climate change is real, and I believe God wants us to care for the Earth and find ways to glorify him while we continue through this challenging time together.
