Three remarks from the former editor-in-chief of Physical Therapist's Literature Update (Dutch internet journal 2001-2006):
1. The test should be done with the index finger (extensor indices muscle). You can also test the extensor digitorum muscle, but then with all four fingers.
2. The elbow must be extended. Otherwise the chance of a false negative is too great.
3. The tests are quite often also positive in case of a radial tunnel syndrome/PIN syndrome.

hello sir, i am physiotherapy student and i have a question .
the insertion for the extensor digitorum M are base of middle and distal phalanx of each four fingers,
why the resistant only for third digit of the hand ?
