His book for junior cricketers on batting was the biggest influence on me aside from watching both himself and Martin Crowe. It's a book where you feel his positivity come at you, he's talking directly to you. Both he and the great Sunil Gavaskar were inspirations along with other openers to be an opening bat myself. Massive influence this man, so positive, strong, courageous and an ornament not just for England, but what a professional in any industry must do to succeed and set the example to others. Great speaker at the MCC dinner here in Melbourne as well. Spoke his mind and didn't sugar coat or politically navigate through any topic.
