Hey everyone!

That’s a killer opener!

What’s really interesting about this song is, of course, the opening riff. I don’t have much info on how exactly it was recorded, but it’s clear to me that there’s a delay effect on it. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Adrian used a guitar with a MIDI pickup and played the melody through a sampler or synthesizer. It’s also possible that the entire riff was played on a synth with delay, though the notes definitely have the feel of a guitar riff.

Either way, I got creative and performed it as you see in the video—it gets the job done, so it works!

Beyond that, there are some pretty cool riffs in this song, along with two simple but solid solos.

FINALLY, someone brave enough to attempt the intro and not just jump into the chords. Bravo Sir! Excellent job, and a wicked cover. I love trying to play this song. I can get all parts other than the solos....that's a technique/skill beyond my ability. Again, amazing cover on one of my favourite tracks!!

Great job! This is a very accurate version of the original. I'll have to try your rhythm in the verses to see how close they get. To my ear, it sounds like Adrian is playing a lot of dead chords there using alternate strumming, and there are three strums combined with dead chords at the end of each chord played (the E, Esus7, and D) that he somehow squeezes in in the last moment. I wonder whether your take on them will result in the same sound. When I listen to those chords on the original, they sound very "sticky." Probably a combination of a dry rhythm sound combined with some pressing and lifting of the fretting hand, and lost of alternate strumming, as in funk styles. What makes the rhythm work on "Moonchild" even more beautiful in the verses is the fact that Dave plays a simpler rhythm that is different from Adrian's, making it a very layered and complex song.

amazing! and finally someone that tabs the intro correctly (most tabs show a complicated riff, but if you watch adrian play it live what he does is pretty simple)
