New Wheels, Full Decos, & Chases?!? Making sense of the new Hot Wheels Silver Series Line

There has been A LOT of talk about the new "Silver Series" Line from Hot Wheels. I've got quite a few sets here, so it's time to walk through what the Silver Series is about, and offer some of my thoughts, good and bad.

They’re getting annoying with the whole chase thing honestly, literally every set has a chase now and that’s not including the cars that just become chases since everyone is hoarding them

Tbh this tier actually my favorite so far, because you got better details than the basics but cost lower than the premiums (not to mention the print quality of the tampos are better than premiums). I'm glad that they produced more of them with metal base.

The best part about these mid-premiums are the deco. They use tampos rather than those dot-matrix prints the full-premiums now have that look terrible. Just wish these were easier to find. Just like Boulevard because they’re Walmart only usually. And even when you do, the cases don’t even have all the models. Chase or not.

Honestly these are 1000 times better in quality then the premium decos that are being put out. Why is mattel cheaping out on livery print quality and pushing out terrible grainny garbage

Love the "Silver Series" line. The card art is nice, and the cars having front and back deco is awesome. However, they should have left the "Chase" car aspect to the premium line. Now it will be quite difficult for set builders to obtain a full set. All in all, great sets so far though.

Thanks for giving the official explanation. Ever since the $3 Volkswagen line came out last year i was confused about the direction.

To clarify, the silver series gets more intricate wheels, more detailed liveries, sometimes metal bodies, and the clear coat is on top of the tampos. I'm all for it.

Btw I love the avant wheels (looks like polestar), I almost bought it just for that. And I also found many many cases of the Porsche "6" packs with no chase.

I'm pretty new hot wheels collecting, but I'm honestly digging some of the mid-range, then premium sets they are releasing just because as someone else in the comments said, a-lot of main-lines are kid focused and its nice to have some more collector/adult focused.

I agree about those wheels, they look like what you get on the cheap Hot Wheels copies, Fuchs style are sweet though !

I really like that this tier is organized now, even if the models themselves are inconsistent in terms of quality. I honestly am buying a couple of these sets just for the card art

Considering there isn't anything really "special" about the chase cars why even have them? They are the same as the rest of the set so its just food for resale vultures.

I've seen evidence of 5 of these "silver series" mixes hit Walmart in the span of a month and 3 days, and yet I've only been able to snag 1 or 2 from each. Here's a novel idea Mattel, how about making fewer different mixes a year and distributing greater quantities of each mix, so that fans of your product have half a chance of actually finding it.

The silver series is great but the assortments they come it is horrendous. The fact a few are overly available some come one per case and some barely even show up. Making it frustrating trying to collect the whole set. If i continues like that i certain will not be collecting that series. Not worth the time and effort to find

Love most of the silver series out. The cars are really nice picking some great molds. And the cards look really good. Chase's should go back to not being part of a numbered set otherwise we're going to run around with incomplete sets.

The Basics line is more focusing to the childish market (With lines like Character Cars, Monster Trucks, Skate or Racerverse)

6:48 It's listed as P4, or Plus 4-Spoke in the Hot Wheels fandom page.

The chases are going to ruin the silver tier as there will always be a missing car and those that want the set won't be able to complete it. At least Car Culture gives you the regular version of the chase.

These are the new Walmart logo wheels. They're on the Walmart specific sets. The negative space within the skinny spokes resembles the yellow "star" in the logo.

Why is Mattel not being explicit about which car in the 6 car set is the chase? What's the logic behind it? How will we be able to tell a few years down the road which one was these chase? Any unique lettering/symbol on the card and/or car?

I like how people are having a hard time accepting that the 914 is a chase. I hate the mix of some being metal and some plastic bases. Wheel swap the metal and they are full premiums.

I find this " silver " labeling confusing and pointless. Because there is no standard to it. Some have matel bases, some dont. Some series have 5 cars, some 6. If you are going to create a new line or revamp an old one, you better have clear distinctions and standards for your costumers to understand and for you to follow.
