He's making fun of self-styled "gurus" who know absolutely nothing and yet continue to peddle vague "spiritual" nonsense to the ignorant (see Jaggi Vasudev, Nithyananda, etc.)
A real guru wouldn't care about money, followers, statues, massive ashrams, egos, or anything else, for that matter.

If only a group of talented young Indian comedians, could come together and make a new series like this. It wouldn't need to have the same name. Good writing and acting of course, but it needs to touch of current and future issues to work.
