Lord Blackburn’s story was genuinely sad. A good man and a wise leader who just wanted to preserve the prosperity of his people! But he was afraid that if he passed away, his people would be crushed. Turned to dark magic in a desperate bid to stave off the impending doom yet it was that very decision that sealed their fate.

In the lore, Blackburn repelled evil on his own for years until his tragic demise, as he just wanted to protect his lands, but his land got utterly destroyed by ritual that he unknowingly did

Out of all the Kingdom Rush villains, I'd say that Blackburn is the most redeemable since he was actually a good and benevolent guy before he resorted to the dark measures that turned him into a ghostly armor (and he did those measures to protect his own lands, too).
