The CHAGA MUSHROOM is known as “Black Gold” in folk medicine. It’s off the charts in it’s nutritional content; reportedly the highest Antioxidant count of all foods. Arguably bringing the best kind of wealth to a person and a true forest treasure!
(Do your research on this one)

Identify:
Grows on Birch Trees in a cone - like shape. Outer crust looks burnt, inside is orange. (Please do more research than this simple short so you can properly identify it)

To Harvest:
Only take a small amount so the Chaga can grow back and you can harvest the area for years to come. Best harvesting is in the WINTER months as this is when the chaga is most potent.

To prepare:
Put just 1 or two small chunks or powder into boiling water. I use a LOT more than required in this video. You can reuse and reboil the chunks multiple times until your water is no longer tea stained in colour.
It tastes like a black tea with a slight woody flavour. I find it delicious and mix it in my morning coffee.

Yummy! Chaga ☕ The Golden Goddess. Leave some spores in the tree where you found it so that it can continue to grow there and be used for generations to come (just in case they don't have grocery stores in the future)

It only grows on birch and it's vary rare. Me and my family used to forage for it.

The good old Birch tree. Amazing what it can offer us. Chaga and Polypore are just two of the ones I love to use. :)

Looks good. Dove Men+Care used to sell a tea leaf & chaga body wash that I really liked, but it got discontinued. That was the first place I'd ever heard of chaga. It smelled great!

Wow, I wish I knew this back in Alaska. We had a lot growing in our backyard on our Birch trees.

Certain people have cured themselves of certain types of cancer with it. That's what it's known for in Russia. The black outer portion is also highly medicinal and contains melanin among many other powerful antioxidants like the most powerful antioxidant SOD (superoxide dismutase).

I believe you can harvest any time for a pot of camp tea. I harvest in the winter. Usually start about now, after deer and bear season is over in the Adirondacks. My assistant has a big white fluffy tail. Bad attribute during whitetail season.

That's what I was going to ask. It only grows on Birch trees. Was that a Birch tree.
It actually has medicinal value as well.
