Bought a second hand 1020 off the bay, cracked screen, damaged camera housing scratched back looked ragged, looks like it'd been stood/stamped on, got the bits from Ebay new screen and complete new back, followed this slowly, took me about 40 minutes including getting everything laid out, , Was over the moon when I got it all together and it all worked, I did not cut the heat tape from the battery, warmed it up and peeled it off the board side but it worked a treat, Thank you for your disassemble tutorials, phenomenal stuff, keep em coming

I love watching your videos even when I do not own some of these devices because they are all so unique, we'll thought out and intricately put together for the most part that I want to see what makes them tick. Your explaining all so calmly and fully is just icing! Cheers from Kansas City and keep the tutorials coming please.

Thanks for the video. The best one I've seen. I've just replaced the main camera due to the famous squeaky sound of the OIS and it seems it's fixed. My question is: What is the copper colour sticker on the camera? Is it necessary? Because the replacement camera module did not have it. Thanks in advance

Thank you! The Lumia 1020 is a design marvel. I'm glad I could see how its put together. The camera module is huge!

Very nicely done! It amazes me how well made this phone is and how repairable it is in comparison to many others.

Excellent video as per usual. It is really necessary to cut the heat sink tape if for example you wanted to put the mainboard and battery into a new case? Can the two pieces not be lifted out together?

I managed to replace a broken usb port on my Lumia 1020.  Its a slightly destructive process, however.  For those attempting to replace it themselves, this is how I did it:

Tools:
- Small flathead screwdriver
- paper clip
- flush cutting side wire cutter (Google it, look at first image)
- Super glue.  I use Loctite 414.
- Torx screwdrivers for case dis/reassembly

Materials:
1x Nokia Lumia 1020 usb/microphone assembly.  I ordered one off Ebay, since etradesupply won't sell a single component order that is only a few dollars.

Estimated time: 30 min.

Steps:
1. Follow LE55ONS' video until 6:18, removing the circuit board from the frame.
2. Face the side of the phone with the usb assembly away from you.
3. On top of the usb assembly there will be a small black rubber flap.  Directly to its right will be a section of hard black plastic, epoxied to the case, and holding the usb plug down.  Wedge the flathead screwdriver between the right side of the usb plug and underneath the hard black plastic, until the hard plastic breaks away.  You should see a small slot that the usb plug is channeled in.
4.  Now looking at the microphone, insert the flathead in between the case and the speaker (left of the mic), and push the case away far enough to pull out the microphone.
5. Using the flush cutting wire cutters, cut away the black plastic (part of speaker) holding down the left side of the usb port.
6. use the flathead screwdriver to shave away plastic from the speaker until you can remove the usb assembly.

7. Practice reinserting and removing the old assembly a few times before inserting the new usb assembly.

8. Remove the small rubber flap from the old assembly.  You will need it for the new assembly.
9.  Now to reassemble. Place the rubber flap on the new usb port, then install the usb port.
10.  Then using the same technique in 4. to remove the microphone, insert the new one.
11.  Using the paperclip, bend one end out to make a small stick.  Put a small droplet of super glue on the end, and glue the left and right sides of the usb port.  The glue will seep into the channels.  Press fit for 30 seconds until the glue is partly cured, and the port is snug.  Try plugging in a micro usb cable and see if the usb port loosens or wiggles.  Reapply glue as necessary.

12. Reassembly the case as per LE55ONS' video.
13. Enjoy a working phone.
