The Desert USA team explored Anza-Borrego on March 19 to check the wildflower bloom status. Traveling from San Diego through Julian, Ocotillo Wells, Borrego Springs, and Coyote Canyon, they found very few blooms due to dry conditions. However, they finally discovered some wildflowers near the water at the second water crossing in Coyote Canyon. Despite lacking flowers, the beautiful scenery and great weather made for an enjoyable trip.

I really appreciate the service you provide to the waning (?) community of natural history observers, protectors, promoters, researchers. It’s really nice to check from afar. I’ve been bugging my father for 11 years to visit, and he’ll finally be visiting next week, only to miss the spectacle we all love. Drat! Keep up the great work!

Excellent service. I've never seen your reporting before. Keep it up! Maybe extend to other areas? Weird year, this. I've lived near Fresno in the foothills (3000 ft elev) since 11/2019. This is the strangest spring. Grasses are just barely growing despite 75% normal rain. In past years, even in drought years, the grasses have been growing fast even by mid-December. Nice wildflowers below 2500 ft elev and lower; not much here yet.

Hi, thanks a lot for the update. The rain came too little and too late, no much wildflowers to see this year.
