FILM DESCRIPTION:
Hundreds of hopefuls congregate at a cattle call for Broadway dancers. A sour director, Zach (Michael Douglas), and his brusque assistant (Terrence Mann) whittle down the ranks until they're left with 16 dancers. All tell their life stories -- some tragic, some comic -- and explain their love of dance. Tension mounts when Cassie (Alyson Reed) -- once both a big star and the director's lover but now desperate for a part -- auditions. But Zach must choose only the best for his show.

I really love the way this is done. I feel like this perfectly encapsulates the ending. You learn all about these people and their stories, only for them to melt away into a group again. Adding the dancers in through the mirrors was amazing to watch.

High Kicks for a solid 40 seconds in unison. Amazing. You don't get stuff like that in the movies anymore.

I saw this this in the late 80s, probably about 16 at the time. The film totally got me and with this at the end. I am nearly 50 and it had stuck with all these years. Just brilliant!

17 in a row; 6 deep!!!! To this day it's amazing, wonderful, and astounding. They even gave each dancer's name in the credits!!!! CLASS ACT!!!!

A classic. What I love about this scene is that even though it is a Chorus Line it has been filmed so you can hear each individual voice, without compromising the whole. Perfection.

I adore the use of the mirrors just watching these individuals really blend into one

I can't help but always feel enraptured by how fluid and poised every part of this choreograpy is whenever I watch this clip. To say I'm impressed is an understatement tbh

I was probably 3 or 4 when I saw this on a VHS along with my mom, who was a stage actress. I loved everything about the movie even though I was too young to understand what it was about. Being a tiny kid in Japan I didn't know where New York was, but I swore to myself I'd someday make it there.

edit 9 months later:
i got a job offer and will be moving to NYC in a couple of months. i completely forgot about this comment here and it's surreal to think that when i posted it i still had no idea if i'd be able to get the immigrant visa, and a job in NY. it's been such a long fight but i finally made it.
To EVERYONE out there who is chasing the goals that seem unattainable--YOU WILL MAKE IT. Please don't give up. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

i just got the reference Family Guy has been making all these years...

Well, at least nobody had to worry about that fog that turns people inside out...

This was and will always be the definitive moment of every Broadway Musical. You don’t ever forget this moment.

Despite the lack of media literacy in this adaptation, this is one of my favorite parts of the entire movie. ♡

I did see it on Broadway, back in 1986. A one in a lifetime thrill! Just beautiful! ❤

I love the gold leotard-tuxedos on the ladies. I am hoping to get a stage costume like that for me, though I want my coat to have tails.

The kind of song for when you feel that your lifelong dream has been achieved and you're now doing what you're meant to do! ;)

My favorite musical, along with "Anything Goes". Micheal Douglas and Audrey Landers are awesome!

One, singular sensation, every little step she takes
One, thrilling combination, every move that she makes
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do
You know you'll never be lonely with you-know-who

One, moment in her presence and you can forget the rest
For the girl is second best to none, son
Oooh! Sigh! Give her your attention
Do I really have to mention she's the one

She walks into a room and you know she's
Uncommonly rare, very unique
Peripatetic, poetic and chic
She walks into a room and you know from her
Maddening poise, effortless whirl,
She's a special girl
Strolling

Can't, help. all of her qualities extolling
Loaded with charisma is ma
Jauntily, sauntering, ambling, shambler
One, and you know you must
Shuffle along, join the parade
She's the quintessence of making the grade
This is whatcha call traveling!

Oh strut your stuff! Can't get enough of her
Lo-ho-ho-ve her!
I'm a son of a gun, she is one of a kind!

One!
Singular sensation
Every little step she takes
One!
Thrilling combination
Every move that she makes
One smile and suddenly nobody else, will, do
You know you'll never be lonely with
You know who
One!
Moment in her presence
And you can't forget the rest
For the girl is second-best
To none, son
Ooh! Sigh!
Give her your attention
Do, I
Really have to mention
She's the...
She's the...
She's the...
One!
