YT Jeffsy Core 4 Review - Is It Right For You? #mtb

We were excited to welcome the new YT Jeffsy into our testing fleet following an enjoyable first couple of days riding it for its First Ride Review at the end of last year. For the long-term review, we decided to give it to a rider who’d be able to log some impressive mileage on it and give a proper insight to its durability over the long haul, as well as some insight from a consumer perspective. While it’s not the enduro bike that Calum perhaps needed, it’s safe to say that testing the YT Jeffsy Core 4 was an absolute blast.

I think YT is a top brand. I can't imagine spending so much more money on brands like Specialized when YT exists.

I have the YT Jeffsy CORE 3 for three and a half years, and it's an outstanding bike.
It handles both climbs and descents effortlessly, especially excelling on the downhills. The build is rock-solid—no issues throughout this time.
I upgraded the fork to 160mm and added the EXT Storia coil shock, and now the bike feels absolutely incredible on descents and still pedals well

I got the YT Jeffsy core 3, and the bike is sweet! I was on the fence about customer service prior to purchasing, But realized that the cost savings is a no brainer for what you get.

Speaking of YT Customer Service (CS) like I said I was a little concerned, but what bike company doesnt have its own issues. I owned a trek and when i had issues with the bike, it took forever for me to prove my case and getting the run around.

With YT i had bike issues which were all my fault from riding hard and every time i emailed YT CS. There was no questions asked and would send me a replacement part. Literally sent me a new sram centerline rotor that i damaged on a rock.

So if your worried about CS...YT is amazing when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Great review, and perfect timing as I have a Jeffsy on order 😄Overall the conclusion seems perfectly in line with what you'd expect, can do a bit of everything with big smiles along the way!

If you're spending 90% of your riding hours on big chunky enduro tracks perhaps not the right bike if you want outright comfort and speed. However, if you're someone like me who spends most of their time at typical UK trail centers it looks to be a great one bike solution.

YT absolutely killing it on the value front, and some of the best looking bikes out there!

Coming from a scott spark, had my jeffsy for a year now. Absolutely love the bike, sure i might have been faster on the spark but this bike put a smile on me every time i ride it.

I ordered the Jeffsy Uncaged 13 a few days ago. I absolutely love alloy bikes and the retro look.
2.500€, Threaded BB, Normal cable routing, Simple Marzocchi suspension at 15.6kg. Excited to experience it myself.

Awesome full review. I took your advice on the first version of this video you did and ordered the large. I've taken note of the 40-42.5mm stem. I will give the stock one a run first and see if I need a change. Now I'm just itching because my matte black core 4 won't ship until December 15th. Regarding the YT support I can confirm that they are very good at it. I purchased a YT Capra last year and got a little shifting problem, they responded quick thru email and even sent me a free derailleur hanger for free, which did not solve the issue, but they offered to pay me the cost of taking the bike to the shop, luckily it was just a little alignment to the derailleur hanger to which my shop did it for free. I am on my second YT bike and very happy with the bikes and customer support.

Hi Loam Wolf, I really appreciate your reviews, especially these long term reviews, and I would really love to hear how this Jeffsy compares for you to other bikes in the same category. I don't need a full showdown, but a "climbs similar to a X, better than Y, worse than Z" and descends... Etc. Many of the bikes you've reviewed recently have been on my list and I'd love to know how they compare. Occam Sl or LT? Cannondale Habit? Specialized Stumpy? Yeti SB 140?

Being in SoCal and actually having done as many demos as I can practically do, I find these comparisons very helpful. I don't know how to compare Scotland riding to SoCal.

Any comments you can share?

@TheLoamWolf A QUESTION that needs a quick reply because tomorrow my order for the Core 4 gets locked in!
I'm a 6' (183cm) with long legs and +/- 0 in ape index. After your initial test of this bike I felt like size L would be best for me. I'm mainly riding local more mellow and tighter trails where I want to pop och maneuver easily. I ride flow trails and jump lines at a nearby trail center every month and bike park a few times per year.
My current bike is a Jeffsy -2018 size L with 445 reach.
What's your size recommendation for me?
