Grandmaster Flash scene from Wild Style (with original audio)

Показать описание
Classic scene from the 1983 hip hop movie Wild Style.

Originally this sequence was intended to link up with a later scene in which Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five perform live on stage. Although the footage was filmed it was decided that it was of insufficient audio/visual quality so the whole live show was reshot at a later date. Flash & the Furious were not present at this second recording. The whereabouts of the original concert footage is currently unknown.

This scene hasn't appeared with its original audio intact since the first 1980s video release due to a rights issue regarding the use of Bob James' Take Me To The Mardi Gras. This footage was ripped from the long-deleted UK video release on the Pyramid label.

Man I remember making an audio recording of this scene off of Night Flight when they played this classic. Years later I grabbed the Rhino DVD and was like “wait a minute... I remember this sounding way different back in the day.” The best scene in this film for me. I was always pissed this wasn’t on the soundtrack.

Flash is so fast he can cut doubles on one deck lol, great visual edit tho, whoever did it knew about cutting (records) and put a lot of time in making that look so seamless (and iconic), would love to see the original uncut footage of that session, seeing how he originally constructed that intro, I'm guessing he had a pre-made cassette playing "the official adventures of the Grandmaster Flash"(with a delay echo) and cut the Headhunters doubles into that, c'mon Charlie it's been 40 years, let's see the outtakes

Man, I was so confused when I heard the "other" version of this, WITHOUT the bells sounding like this! I am glad that I found this version because I honestly thought this was another "Mandela Effect", if you know what I mean. So can someone please explain why the bells are so loud in this version and not the other one? Is this like the theatrical version??? Thanks.

P.s. The same thing happened to me with the ending of "The Search for Animal Chin", the skate movie. I could've sworn that at the end they burned the ramp, but I searched and searched and searched, but was never able to find a version of the film where they actual burn the ramp. I have seen it burn though, ha ha. If anyone knows about that, please let me know!!!
