Recorded in October 2021
The British Council #TheClimateConnection held a video competition for schools on the topic of Climate Action.
The well-deserved winner is Shree Niketan Patasala School, Tambaram, India with this fantastic project: One planet, One chance, One story.
"Our school Shree Niketan Patasala believes in the idea of nurturing the nature for a better future. To accomplish this goal, our school encourages and involves students in various activities to combat climate change. This video explains and describes our actions. Our central idea in creating this video is to inspire students across the globe by showing the efforts we took in our school to save the planet. As one observes with keen attention, one can notice that our video starts with a thought provoking statement about humanity. The intention behind this is to make people think of the current situation of the environment and the accompanying danger and threat for humanity. As the video goes, we students explain to the audience about our school’s accomplishments in the battle against climate change. Design for Change was an important campaign led by our school against climate change. We dedicated a segment of the video to explain the 10 major steps initiated by our school under this project. We also showed our support to Greta Thunberg, who is known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change mitigation, by conducting campaigns and strikes. Fridays For Future was an important aspect of the project- Design For Change. In a similar fashion, we explained the different steps taken by our school against climate change. We believed that it was important to bring to light the positive impacts of these actions, so that one could understand that even small steps taken towards the achievement of this by each and every one of us could lead to big changes. We at our school, joined hands to put phrases into actions and change the world.
The audience can look for easy and eco-friendly methods that any individual can adopt and contribute their part against climate change. In the video, they can also look for evidences of positive impacts of the actions achieved by our school. Our video also gives various ideas that schools across the globe could adopt easily for efficient and sustainable use. The audience can expect our school's significant accomplishments in the video. We also believe that the viewers can seek inspiration to strive for a better future, from our video."
