My dad passed away 8 months before my wedding. 2 days after he passed, i was standing at the start of the church aisle waiting for my mom to finish talking to the pastor about my dads arrangements. My mom walked up and asked what i was thinking. I told her i couldn't do it, i couldn't walk down the aisle without him. I couldn't get married because if I didn't get married and just left, i would never have to feel the pain my mom was feeling. She turned me to face her and said, "dont, don't do that to yourself. You were your daddys world, and he hand-picked Tony (my fiancé) for you. Dont end your future, just because dads gone." I celebrate my 10 yr wedding anniversary this fall. We have a son who is my dads twin, looks, and personality.

And for context before someone asks. My husband was a guest at my sweet sixteen as a friend. My dad was meeting friends of mine and he walked up to tony and he gave my dad (as he would call it) a good firm mans hand shake and looked him straight in the eye. My dad came into the house and said, "i like that kid, you need a boy like that in your life." A month later, he asked me on a date. That was 16 years ago. My dad knew what and who i was gonna need when he was gone.

My best friend’s dad died the morning of the ceremony . It was a destination wedding and she felt like she had to go through with it because so many people came. And the poor thing was completely on autopilot throughout the day. She was also a couple months pregnant and such a daddy’s girl! I’ll never forget the anguish heard from the bride’s side when the pastor asked who would be giving my friend away. (Her stepdad stepped in to walk her down the aisle and announced he and Nik’s dad would do the honor.) That was the most heartbreaking day…😔

My oldest boy was getting married & his dad died 2 days before the.wedding. she happen to be pregnant too, with our 1st grandchild. He was so excited. It made it so difficult. My heart goes out to her.

I lost my father at 2 years old and my mother at 12. I grew up with 2 older brothers in foster care. We were all 1 year apart. When I got married at 23, my oldest brother walked me down the isle at my wedding. He was the most special, protective, and loving brother anyone could ask for. We both cried as he walked me down the isle. My brother married 6 months later. I was there for him too at his wedding. Sadly, he died tragically 3 months later. It was the worse day of my life. A few years later I lost my other brother to tragedy. We were always The 3 Musketeers. Treasure your family, no matter how they come into your life, because you never know when they will leave your life! GOD Bless!

I know that pain. My mom passed two months b4 my wedding and I was a total mess. My maid-of-honor kept drying my tears so they won’t ruin my makeup nor pictures. Still miss her every day 28 years later.

My niece lost her dad three months before her wedding, & her twin older brothers both walked her down the aisle, one on each side. They were all very close, & it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!

My mother died ten years ago. I met my husband 3 yrs ago. He set up a table with her pictures as a surprise for me at our wedding. And a seat was saved with her picture on it. I laid my bouquet 💐 in the seat after my dad walked me to my husband. That's the only time I cried. I never got the nervous crying I expected from all the movies I've seen and other people's weddings. But I missed my mom so much that day. My husband taking the time to honor my mother was amazing. I was blessed with an amazing step mom and I still have her. She raised me since I was 4. And now I have another mom in his mom. We have a great relationship and I love her so much. My mom would have loved him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My father had passed away when I was as just 23 yrs old and 6 yrs before I got married. I had made up my mind that I would choose one of my five brothers that I was the closest to to give me away. I was sad I didn’t have my father but my favorite brother was wonderful and a perfect choice. I also had a daughter out of wedlock when I was 21 and her father wasn’t around to walk her down the aisle at her wedding in August 2021 so that same favorite brother of mine and favorite uncle to her walked her to down the aisle to her wonderful husband. It was perfect and precious. Awesome Brothers step in to help take the sadness away. ❤

I lost my mami 34 years ago and i still miss her and i was in my 40s now im 78 i still cry for my beautiful mami my all of our mothers that were sent for rest in Heaven And our Dads!
