Canon 60d film look test

Shot on a Canon 60d With Canon 50mm f/1.8 and Canon 28mm f/1.8 USM at 1080p 24fps
Edited and color corrected in Final Cut Pro 7

60D I shot using the technicolor cinestyle picture style and then in FCP I raised the contrast, did a basic color correction, slightly softened the image, and finally added gorilla grain and film burns

I'm leaning towards the 60D as it has more features in movie mode as well as the Magic Lantern firmware and the CineStyle picture style from Technicolor. Anyways, great video as it proves the 60D can produce some really neat images. Thumbs up! :D

1. the dolly I used I made out of wood, some rolling chair wheels, and PVC pipe. Unfortunately the wheels aren't well-aligned so the pipe tends to move around when I use it.
2. The film burns I got from gorillagrain . com which has a free download pack.
3. and I've only gotten my hands on a 5d once. In terms of video quality, it wins hands down. however I really like having the convenience of the 60d's swivel screen. It depends on your preference

I've been so insecure which camera I should get.. Been looking at tons of 60D and Lumix GH2 videos. They cost roughly the same. Basically, I have this thing with cameras that I want them to have this "film" look ability. The GH2 is soo sharp with the 176Mbps hack, but Lumix is to me so different and the camera it self is so darn ugly and small. The 60D is good looking, can produce excellent footage, but isn't quite as sharp as the hacked GH2 and it has this digital look...

Did you use a professional dolly track or did you improvise with some other equipment? (i.e. a wheelchair or something) ?

Also, how did you achieve that roll out effect between some of the shots? You did that in FCP color correction?

Last, assuming you're familiar with the 5d, how do you compare and rank it next to the 60d?
