Here's some struggles about being a left-handed artist, as well as being mixed-handed! Any other lefties out there?

Any other lefties out there?
Also, about the whole corpus callosum thing, I meant to add on and say that sometimes it is surgically detached to assist a medical condition (ex. seizures). It’s really interesting to see the effects it has on the person afterwards.

I am also a lefty, and an artist.
There is *always* pencil smudges on my hand

I'm the exact same way! My right hand does most athletic or more physically demanding activities. But I use my left to draw and some things I can use both hands. My parents tell me I was ambidextrous until I turned 3 or 4 so something just changed in my brain that made me mixed handed

everyone in the comments is saying they're a leftie, and i'm just here watching your amazing videos and being a lonely rightie XD

YES! I've been seeing a lot of left handed artist lately and I'm happy!
I also have mix handed moments but less than you, I'm more on my left hand.

*I don't get why people are amazed to learn that we write and draw with our left hand. Like it's no big deal*

I'm mix handed too!! I write and draw with my left hand, and i do general detailed things. I use my right hand for sports and stuff. I am left footed though, I can't kick a ball with my right foot at all.

Mixed just like you. Of course, I am prehistoric and therefore had an elementary school teacher (Ms. Creech) whom believed everyone should be right-handed, imagine a nun and ruler. She would keep me in at recess and make me use scissor's with my right hand as well as try and write with my right hand. I think I was in the 2nd grade. I told my step-mother and she put a stop to that ASAP!

I played softball and just like you, I batted left but, I caught and threw right, which always shook the other team up. When I dislocated my right shoulder, I found that I could throw left but not at a distance, say from outfield to infield. When it came to basketball, to this day I use both when shooting. I bowl right handed, cut right and crochet right.

In the last few years, I needed mental distraction and began watching tutorial's on everything from painting ( acrylic, watercolor, gouache), oil and soft pastels, calligraphy, etc.) sadly, I found very few creator's that were left-handed and I still have a difficult time following a right-handed tutorial because I have to do what the creator does but, backwards and usually, my self-critique crumples the art attempt in frustration because I don't even come close to what the creator's piece looks like.

In 50, almost 51 year's, I have NOT met/seen very many lefties BUT, when I do, I am quick to point the uniqueness shared out. I will say that the one's that I have seen/met, all are creative whether it be drawing, painting, or writing if not combination of all. Lefties tend to be empaths, animal lover's/whisperer's, quiet/shy, intelligent, and highly intuitive to name a few things. Most, also have the same blood type which is also a universal but rare one indeed.

LOL, the desks in school always gave me issues and especially when I would fall asleep. ;) The notebooks still give me issues but, I usually get the top spiral one's or just flip a regular notebook over and start from the back instead. Have you ever tried the mystery books where you decide which way the story goes? We can decipher things right to left with no hesitation whereas right-handed people can't.

I did and still have problems using a knife to cut meat or a potato peeler. My step-mother would always take the knife from me saying, "You're scaring me." She was right because I have many scars from slipping or losing grip etc. Same goes when using a screwdriver or hammer. ;)

The only TRUE PROBLEM that I found being a lefty had to do with my son's. I couldn't teach them how to tie their shoes because I do it backwards and honestly, no one ever taught me so, my laces always came untied. I bypassed the laces in school by wearing KEDS and taking the shoelaces out and then I have mainly worn flip flops since.

Statistically though, we are few and far between, a unique rare gift. Although labeled as lefties or southpaw's or the odd one's, left-handed people make up a major part of our etc. Just think about that and then it will set in ...without those left-handed people/artist's/creator's/inventor's, many things we have today would never have existed. :)

Spiral Note Books.... Had a friend, who was a rightie, but he hated writing in a spiral notebook, because as you say everyone is eventually reaching over the darn thing. Anyway he would, and this should work for lefties, write on the right side only, all the way through, spin it 180 degrees at the end and write back through it on the other 'right' side.... Made fun for trying to copy his notes!

It is true. I am a musician myself guitarist and drummer, for example: I use my right hand for every single handed work like writing, drawing etc. But when it comes to a two hand instruments or for example a sweeper I m left handed. Loved the videos as well as your art. Lots of love from Switzerland

It’s funny the thing with sitting beside a right handed person. I’m right handed but when I write I always lean on my left arm so my right arm is free. I once sat beside a boy in my class for most of the year and he was left handed and it just got together like a puzzle piece cus we both leaned on our non dominant arm to write and thus there was lots of space for both of us

I'm a left hander mostly but am also mixed. I write, draw, play racket sports with my left hand. I use a mouse with my right hand, hold knife an fork right handed, play pool or snooker right handed.

Had all the problems with smudging when writing and sitting in the right hand side of a right hander.

That's actually a really interesting topic. I mean I'm right handed so I never really thought about this? It's cool to hear a different point of view!

I think its really cool that you can use both hands (sometimes)! Wow I can't do ANYTHING with MY left hand...although I'm not left handed, I try and look around at all the facilities (?) and I agree that a lot of the desks, musical instruments etc are right - handed...I wish they were usable for everyone...also I love your little drawings they are so cute!!

When I'm typing on my computer or on my phone my first instinct is always to do it with my left hand, but when I'm writing or drawing I do it with my right hand.
I'm also able to write pretty ok with my left hand if I want to.
So maybe I'm mixed handed.

Hey I'm a left handed too! I honestly think that I use both of my hands equally, but my left hand is the only hand that can write, do the fingerings on my viola, and draw. ❤️
