2024 BSA Goldstar 650 Review | An Authentic Modern Classic

Показать описание
Authenticity is the key and the BSA Gold Star deserves top marks for keeping itself as old as possible. Efforts were made to keep this bike as classic as possible, and because BSA made sure to fit a vibey 652cc single-cylinder engine in, we couldn't help but feel a little nostalgia as we rode. Jinno reviews the Gold Star in this Beyond the Ride review, and the biggest question is, is it worth the price that BSA Philippines is asking? Find out on this episode, and find out whether BSA does deserve a gold star.

My first bike back in 1967 was a BSA Lightening. 650 twin. Back then that circular gauge in the headlight was a amp meter.

I knew the engine is not great but they gotten the full score on the design part. This motorcycle is a good looking motorcycle.

I cannot believe that BSA went with the Harley Davidson way and did everything as old as it could be.

3:50 "Back in the day, motorcycles had a lot of vibrations... So... they achieved that part!"

Lovely review. From India. Don't know how YouTube didn't give the recommendation earlier!

This is honestly a fantastic looking motorcycle, even better than my interceptor 650 but it is a hard purchase, as interceptor can literally do all the duties as far as Asia is concerned.
The vibrations are just off putting when you are accustomed to a twin cylinder motor, which is creamy smooth.
If this bike had Royal enfield engine with that styling, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Funny story, this bike will cost almost 1.5x (374557 peso) the price of interceptor 650 (2, 49, 705peso) in india as its a completely built unit sale.

You gave a very well thought out review. I feel I know the Goldstar now. I don't get riders' complaints about bikes vibrating. I've been riding since the 70's and I've always seen motorcycle magazine editors kvetching about bikes vibrating--didn't matter what bike, it seems. And, all bikes vibrate, some more some less. Don't they sell vibrators to help people relax? Anyway very nice review.

The first thing I did with my BSA Gold Star 650 was to replace the rear shock adsorbers with a pair of fully shrouded Girling units, much better for our pot holed UK roads. The second thing I did was to replace those 'Micky Mouse' mirrors with Stadium stainless steel bar end mirrors, now I can see the road behind me instead of my elbows. The BSA is a riders machine, it handles very well and gives 72 miles from a gallon of petrol.

They didn't have to pay homage this way by making it an expensive vibrator. Crossplane twin would have been a better choice, especially with that price tag.

No brainer, 2 cylinder RE interceptor is a better option and cheaper too. Still an indian brand as RE as well

I bought the big thumper exactly 1 year ago, its got bags of character and I love it as anyone who has ridden a single will know exactly what i mean. Its not a twin or a triple or a four its a £6500 single and can only be compared to another single. Other comparisons are meaningless.

Caco was alive during the BSA heyday? Maybe even way before? Confirmed Caco is the highlander.

Strange I've ridden a 3000 miles machine, run in the engine ran very smooth and very minimal vibration for us older riders BSA & Royal Enfield hit the mark!

Lots of modern bikes still have vibrations if they only have one or two cylinders without counter rotating shafts etc. What is an OG?
