When I saw your video, I thought it to be another guy talking a lot but not being helpful. At that moment I played the game for over ten hours, not being able to win once. I was in a championship at +2, 3 strokes off the lead. I decided to give it one more go, changed to the two finger approach and to my surprise I ended up winning the tournament at -5 and getting 0 bogeys since I changed the grip. So it's fair to say your approach is very good. Thx for the help.

Great video! What confuses me about the timing is when it says fast or slow, what EXACTLY am I doing too slow? Pulling it back too slow, forward too slow? Is one too slow relative to the others? That's the frustrating thing I can have five swings that seem the same to me but I'll have 1 perfect, 1 fast, and 3 slow. I don't know what the heck it wants.

Great video. As someone who has played since the original The Golf Club offering, I can add a two things. 1. If you really want to get a sense of feeling the club more, I find the Xbox Elite 2 controllers stick tension helps a ton. I set it on the tightest option. 2. As Respawn pulls half way back on full shots, I actually do this method but reversed. So, I take the stick back until the club reaches the top of swing. This happens well before the stick is pulled all the way back.

This video literally just saved my game. I kept holding the analog stick through the downswing. After watching you just do a quick push and release, I'm consistently hitting it straighter now.

Haven't played one of these games in over a decade, and it's been kicking my ass. This is really helpful. Thanks dude

One thing to note is that this game is super controller dependent. I've used a few different types of controllers on this game, & specific controllers like the Thrustmaster eSwap X, Razer Wolverine, or similar controllers that have resistance technology in the thumbsticks. You're using the Series X controller which has fairly loose thumbsticks with very "plastic" feeling resistance. So for you to keep a straight swing would take much more effort than other controllers. So definitely consider looking into different controllers to try for PGA since you're a competitive player in the game & maybe this is something you could mention in future videos since it seems to me to be quite a big factor in the game, thanks for the vid & GL on the grind 🤝

I spent a couple days experimenting with swings and both thumbs. I used to right stick pinch method on 2k21, but now I'm horizontal thumb with left stick. Then I had to dial in where on my torso to lean my controller and thumb lines up even with the down dpad and my left index finger right between LT and LB blah blah. Basically find my landmarks on the controller. Then every shot I do a full pullback and let go to make sure it "feels" like a straight backswing before I swing for real. Lol I feel like I have more routines and quirks than I would if I played real golf.

But starting to dial it in and probably moving up to master swing soon. But everything you said is very true, you really have to find what works for you individually, but still take every suggestion you hear or see and at least try it. You never know which technique would be just right for you. For example one thing I used to dabble with on 2k21 that I don't do here but it's fun to try is holding stick totally still with thumb, and shift the whole controller forward then backward with the other hand. Was work staying straight, but consistent tempo felt easier.

I do have one quick suggestion. One thing that helps me get more consistent in always finding exactly the same spot and setup with my controller, is every single shot I take the controller away from my spot and even shake out my hands. It forces you to build muscle memory every time you return your controller to your perfect setup spot. Also by shaking out my arms a sec I'm forcing myself to stay loose and no longer get tension throughout a round.

BTW, anybody else wish they would let you customize which button toggles practice swing? I hate that it's having to push in the stick you swing with :/

Great video and tips for not only newcomers but even long players of the series!! Many thanks for the mention also, much appreciated and delighted to have helped get the ideas into your head to help out others.

I've gotten quite used to pulling the stick fully back to the housing fast before the vibration kicks in for any partial shots. But I'm actually going to try out what you demonstrated here and see how that goes. I do that for putting and has always worked great, but my brain never thought to do the same with partials. It's as if it's telling my thumb that I HAVE to pull the stick all the way back!! Can't wait to see how well it works, and if I get it down, could also be good to have more than one method to have in case one isn't working the best at any time.

Once again, great video and many thanks.

How are you swinging when you let go of the stick? I have to push it right up with pressure for it to swing.

Your tip about not going all the way back to the thumb stick housing has really helped me out so thank you so much!

The infuriating thing about this system is how inconsistent it is. I could do what feels like exactly the same swing 3 times in a row, 2 would be perfect and one would be slow. Thanks to your tips I’m avoiding really fast / slow swings much more (I’m a right thumb flicker) but the game doesn’t actually explain what makes a swing slow or fast. This can ruin approach shots so no matter how calculated your approach shot is, it can easily go out of the window because of this bi-polar mechanic

I wish I could give you more upvotes for this video. The “pinch” technique has taken me from absolutely despising the swing mechanics, to being able to have a consistent swing. Instantly enhanced my enjoyment of the game. Thank you!
