I play Destiny 2 on mine through STEAM all the you can get booted for Vram if things get to intense on screen but is like 90% playable and it runs Minecraft like a boss!

The Elitedesk 800 G2 does have the i5-6500 65w option and runs pretty cool. I have run a couple for some years without issue, one as a Mac mini Hackintosh and one is now running Batocera.

Thanks so much for the comprehensive review! I'm thinking about getting one of these to use as a home Linux server. They're dirt cheap now. I've never used "containers" before, but perhaps now would be a good time to start :) Anyway, after watching this, I think I'll take the plunge and get a secondhand HP EliteDesk 800 G2 (instead of one of those "mini PCs" with the Celeron 5105).

I've got questions, how long do these things last before something goes bad? Is hardrive failure a thing with these? In the video you said you got one with a bad fan? How likely is that to occur? And my last question... Do these come with built-in Wi-Fi, or will you need an adapter, Ethernet cable to connect this to the Internet? Would gladly appreciate it to know these things(if you even know).

If you look at the USB 3 type A port closest to the USB C port you will notice the little lightning bolt symbol that means as long as the HP mini is connected to a power supply even when the PC is not turned on it will be able to charge say a smartphone etc from that particular port as long as the Power supply is plugged in and turned on at the wall.

Regarding the NVME SSD whilst nly Gen 3 X4 it will be more than fast enough for these systems as the other components will match so a Gen 4 port would not be an advantage the later models that use 8000 series CPUs with Six core in the I5 and more in later models will have the CPU power to use a Gen 4 to advantage.

The HP 800- models actually have two NVME slots so they could be used in a raid zero approach for much faster throughput then there are a few variants that actually run a laptop style GPU on a daughter card with the motherboard having an expansion slot to alllow this.

Then of course you cdan step up to say a HP 2.7 litre Z series workstation for much higher performance at much higher cost also.

Could this Prodesk work with 49 ultrawide monitor for multitasking work with office and several browsers working together? Is it reasonable to extend memory to 32gb? Or 8x8 would be enough?
