In today's video I discuss Givenchy's latest Fall Winter / Autumn Winter 2024 collection with @sonofagunns . We discuss how good the design team created the collection as well as what the appeal of having a big name creative director like Matthew Williams, Riccardo Tisci or Claire Waight Keller is in fashion.

a brand not having a creative director sounds more appealing then one hiring another celebrity designer whose early collections will be harshly judged—and i feel like givenchy has put the spark of interest back into their brand so they could go directorless for at least a few years

Excellent topic Guys! Since Alia was mentioned in the conversation, don't forget that Azedine Alia himself gave the Fashion Industry the finger as he felt this mad rush to pop out collection after collection compromising the way design came to him in an organic way.

I love when the work is about the craft. I miss elegant style. The way fashion can speak for you without saying a word.

It’s really important to highlight these issues such as the toxic celebrity culture that is thrust down all our throats at every turn… these people have no real talent except their massive egos and bare faced bravado! 😖Good on you for highlighting the terrible fact of the 21st century, that the really talented design school graduates are being ignored, that has to be one of the factors at the root of the devolution of the fashion industry that and over production… Thought provoking as usual!💕💞💕

I like the fact that they have a diverse range of models

I think they gonna do 2 years of House Team creating the clothes, but with a secret leader to test the waters, because is easy to change the vision if they don't have someone who is the name of the vision, they can change the person more easily without having a major noise for a layout like Ludovic

If the secret Creative director is having a good return they gonna bring it to the public, if not they gonna hire someone else

We must get back to artisanal crafting. We are losing the human connection and respect for what it takes to create and produce quality in general.

I think they are also making the prices outrageous because there is more and more people (who aren’t their target audience) being able to afford/buy their luxury clothing/accessories.

When you think of all the greats, Dior, YSL, Givenchy etc, started really as dressmakers with real skill for the craft …versus the new wave of Creative Directors who seem to need to create runway drama on the back of that the business is in T-shirts and Hoodies…the only thing luxury about that is the price

Michael Cinco should be a role as Creative Director at GIVENCHY

the well-known designer should get the position as Creative Director at GIVENCHY are Zac Posen (now Creative Director at GAP) or Haider Ackermann (now Creative Director at CANADA GOOSE) that I don't understand that Posen & Ackermann are Creative Directors of fashion brands known at streetwear brands and the designers are couturiers and Posen or Ackermann aesthetics are fit for house codes at GIVENCHY

now Zac Posen is now the Creative Director for GAP and Haider Ackermann is now the Creative Director for CANADA GOOSE
who's next BEBE hires Nensi Dojaka?.., NIKE hires Thebe Magugu?.. LULULEMON hires Rick Owens?..

"Not have a creative director but a team who make elegant clothing that women actually want to wear"

I can't tell you how badly I want to wear this collection. I love fashion but wearability is often low. This collection combines that serious elegance, quality, wearability and desirabilty. It won't push fashion further but damn if I'd had the coin I'd spend it here.

A creative director is needed to man the ship. They can eventually promote 1-2 in the design team to creative director position. No need to hire a named designer.

Idk why but i never know what the appeal about this brand. 🤔🤔

This is not good idea. It is enabling companies to under pay and over work staff. Plus not getting the credit you deserve for your work.

Dilara is the personification of shallow and lacking depth. She is a consumer who is passionate about asthetics. But no original thought.

givenchy definitely needs a creative director lmao, any brand without one is literally doomed
