I agree so much with that statement. We really need to get our priorities right. And it's okay to disagree with someone or something, and that disagreement can be put forward in a respectful way, probably with more details as to why you are disagreeing. Not by hurling abuses at each other. And sometimes (although it's very hard), one should just ignore

Offense has to be one of the most superficial responses available to us. Anything which is uncomfortable, or strange, has license to be offensive. One can be offended by manners alone.

We've "forgotten" the art of civility? Not at all. We have always been thusly uncivil, and worse- much worse; we just didn't have a forum in which to exhibit it. Not too long ago, we simply didn't have the means to casually interact with millions of strangers. Now, with the internet and social media, everyone has a public voice, and so we see and hear our common foibles with much greater frequency than ever before.
