Have you been to a Sephora lately? Well, if you answered yes, you’ve likely noticed one major difference . . . say, the mini-shoppers. They've got the internet up in flames. What is going on?

My daughter is 11. She’s asked for skin care and a Stanley cup. I said no, you don’t need those. And that was the end of it. Told her we would research products when she’s older. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I also don’t allow her on social media

The problem isnt the internet. The problem is parents who dont say NO.

I'm 13, and ASHAMED of many people my age. I remember as a kid I would love occasionally going to justice, claires, etc. getting a thing or two as a treat. But now, I see people my age doing makeup or skincare, and I don't even know how to do makeup or skincare yet! I go to Sephora and Ulta very rarely to get something for my acne breakouts, and I get treated as a nuisance by the workers when I ask them on some assistance with recommended acne products to buy for my skin. I understand the worker's exhasperation about this situation, and I don't mind at all. But I feel bad for the other kids who don't act like the notorious 10-13 year olds, and get mistaken for the other kids who actually are disrespectful. It's a sad world rn.

Last I checked, Claire’s is still open, cartoons are still on and parks still exist. Friendship bracelets can be made, slumber parties are free. Why arent these parents enriching their children’s lives more than just allowing them to watch tik tok? Parents have to parent regardless of what is or isn’t available.

This is 1000% a parental problem. Starts at home. Period.

I am a 26 year old woman. The only skincare products I own are a natural soap, and a natural cream (shea butter) with no additives.
People often tell me they thought I was still in high school.
I have never owned a concealer, a mascara, a foundation. All I have is an eyeliner pen, and an eyebrow pencil, and some lipticks I was gifted.

Nothing wong if someone has a lot of products, but not for children. Children DO NOT need all of that.

It is sad to see them so early be so obsessed with their apearances, and not letting themselves stay children and enjoy these times.

Adulthod is not fun, and these kids want to rush themselves into it.

So basically the next generation of Kardashians are ruining the self esteem of kids and making them feel they need to buy masses of stuff. Just like the Kardashian sisters did to my generation.

I was a kid/teen in the 90s and while I was a "mall rat" I would never destroy products because my parents taught me better.

I'm 55 years old and wasn't allowed to wear any makeup until I was 16 or 18 years old. This is insane

The mother needing the Sephora clerk to talk sense into and convince her child out of an unnecessary splurge purchase is 100% the root of the issue.

the skincare smoothie thing is literally just "making potions" but in sephora instead of in the garden/woods

This is why kids this young shouldn't have access to social media. It affects their development 😔

I 100% blame the parents for not monitoring what their kids watch. This makes me sad for these kids.

When I got into the potion phase my mom got me a soap making kit and other child friendly chemistry sets. You could be channelling this into learning

If I ever have kids they aren’t getting a phone until their mid to late teens.
