Ubisoft is making an extraction shooter...

Something to note: In a way, this is kind of the second coming of a battle royale within the Division, if anyone remembers The Division 1's second DLC: Survival- which was also really cool.

Survival Mode of Division one is exactly what this sounds like. That was intense.

It's honestly an interesting concept, I'm a little worried about how they are gonna go about balancing this because, essentially, this is just a full game centered around the Dark Zone portion of the Division series. And for anyone who has played either Division, things get out of hand kinda quickly with players with min/maxed stats running around griefing casual players or newer players alike with only a few shots. I hope they find a way to sort it out because I love The Division as a whole. Its 3rd person shooting is some of my favorite in the industry, and the lore and world are super unique. But this game could kill the franchise if new players don't get involved and love it. I'm definitely going to check it out, but here's hoping Ubi eventually makes plans for a D3, and put it in another city like Seattle or Chicago.

I wish they brought back the winter setting of the Division One for this game. An extraction type game that takes place through harsh blizzards and snow storms would be so much fun. Kinda like how survival mode of Division One was

Absolutely agree that the NYC setting hit so much harder than the Washington DC setting. The cold winter desolate Christmastime aura felt so much heavier as well.

Always found the first Division's dark zone to be one of the best made extraction style games out there. It was lonely, gritty, challenging, and rewarding if you successfully got away with what you went in there for. AI and players were out for blood, so you had to play it smart. I don't think any game except for Tarkov has really had the same kind of intensity as the original dark zone.

Building this game for last-gen too really holds back how good the visuals *could* be in this game.

Loved the original Division. I sunk about 600 hours into that game. Division II didn’t have the same feel though. I’m hopeful for Heartland.

I absolutely loved the first division game. Something about an abandoned New York was just so cool to me, it was beautiful and the gameplay was smooth. I played a lot of it with friends and had some great memories. I liked the second one as well but the setting wasn’t as cool. Might replay them soon actually. They’re my guilty pleasure tbh

The only two major things I have concern about is the balancing and what you mentioned about the rural setting. I'm not entirely sold on the rural setting just from how the division has always been centered around large scale cities and underground subway systems but heartlands seems a lot more like ghost recon wildlands to me than anything else. It also looks to me like solo play is going to be a nightmare.

Interesting concept, definitely will check it out. Although a little bit disappointed they not going back to the cold and snowy New York, the atmosphere in the first game was amazing!

I still remember Humblebundle making a bundle with the release of the first game in 2016. It included the game and several t-shirts that I still wear to this day. I'm really looking forward to this as the DZ in the original games were some of my favorite content ever. Even after loosing touch with the game.

I was hoping Heartlands was going to be like D2 an open world game with PVE and have specific PVP areas. Looks like I will need to keep playing D2.

Hopefully it's good. Their game essentially had it. Especially with Survival on D1 and the dark zones.
