Well deserved, those that think Lewandowski should have won should look at Barcelona without Messi just to see how much has changed once Messi is no longer there, just to see impact this individual had on the whole team, not to mention his individual achievement. Lewandowski is a great player but he plays for Bayern, which dominates Bundesliga, did not do much for Poland, granted that Poland is an average team. However, anyone believes that BM will be in trouble if Lewandowski leave? I doubt that. And people that using # of goals to compare Messi to Lewandowski is just simply clueless, Messi is not a striker and so was Modric when he got his Ballon D'or in 2018. It was never about just # of goals, there is golden shoe award for just goal.

Of course lewa also deserve it but in past messi, cr7, suarez missed out on winning this even though they have better goal+assist stat in any particular year because their team win nothing. Messi has 58 goal+assist in 56 games this year with most chances created. He was top scorer in la Liga with today's Barcelona team. Won copa America after 28 years for country with mott award and dominated in every stat which is possible for any forward and midfielder. I don't think there would have been too much talk if he had scored 4, 5 more goals in ligue 1 because before 1 month everyone was rooting for messi
