High-purity CBD inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication in human lung epithelial cells

for 2 hours with CBD before infection with SARS-CoV-2.

CBD potently inhibited viral replication under nontoxic conditions

(no toxicity was observed at the effective doses)

Worked in other human lung cell lines, worked in monkey kidney cells

Tested on Wuhan strain and 3 VOCs

Their ability to infect cells was comparably inhibited by CBD

CBD or other cannabinoids?

Checked 97 to 100% pure using quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR).

No toxicity was observed for any of the CBD preparations at the doses used to inhibit viral infection

The CBD metabolite 7-OH-CBD, 7-hydroxy-cannabidiol

exhibits antiviral activity

Others did not work

Combining CBD with THC (1:1) significantly suppressed CBD efficacy,

consistent with competitive inhibition by THC.

CBD and 7-OH-CBD metabolite are the active and equipotent ingredients for the treatment of epilepsy

CBD acts at an early step after viral entry into cells

CBD targets host cell processes.

CBD inhibits viral RNA expression and reverses viral-induced changes in host gene expression

CBD effectively eradicated viral RNA expression in the host cells

Prevents changes in the cell produced by the virus to force the cell to produce new viral particles

CBD induces strong activation of genes associated with the host stress response.

Together, these results suggest that CBD acts to prevent viral protein translation and associated cellular changes.

Induction of viral genes for spike, envelope, and nucleocapsid proteins is reduced ~99% with CBD

CBD induction of increased transcription of 3 defensive endoplasmic reticulum genes

CBD induces interferon expression as part of its antiviral activity

CBD suppress viral infection,

and promote degradation of viral RNA

(SARS-CoV-2 infection suppresses the interferon signaling pathway)

CBD sufficiently lowers the effective viral titer to enable normal host activation of the interferon pathway.

CBD effectively reversed viral induction of cytokines that can lead to deadly cytokine storm

CBD treatment significantly inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication in mice

After viral the challenge,

administration of CBD continued twice daily for an additional 4 days

CBD treatment significantly inhibited viral replication in lungs and nasal turbinates at day 5 after infection

Lower dose of CBD reduced viral load by 4.8-fold in lungs

Higher dose of CBD reduced viral load by 40 -fold in lungs

During this period, the mice showed no signs of clinical disease

These results establish the preclinical efficacy of CBD as an antiviral drug for SARS-CoV-2 during early stages of infection.

CBD is negatively associated with indications of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patient medical records

Given that high-purity CBD preparations are taken by a large number of individuals,

we examined whether CBD prescriptions are associated with indications of SARS-CoV-2 infection

An oral solution of CBD (100 mg/ml) (CBD100) is often used for the treatment of seizures

Analysis of 1,212 patients

Matched to control group counterparts

6.2% (75 patients) with CDB

8.9% for non-CBD patients

I’m 33, with dormant cancer. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 2 back in November of 2011, underwent chemotherapy til May of 2012. It shrunk but didn’t go away so I was referred to do radiation treatment on my chest. I refused that treatment and from there I went on with my life. Fast forward to Covid, I was working for Amazon as a delivery driver at the very beginning. I was out there still delivering packages. Everyone was coming down with the virus, and just knew for sure I’d get it and probably wouldn’t survive it. But I kept working for over a year, peak pandemic 😷. I was tested and never infected. 😳, but what do I do everyday that not everyone does everyday? I thought 💭. I smoke cannabis everyday, multiple times a day, even while I was undergoing chemotherapy, i smoked before treatment and after. I smoke before work and after. I’ve been smoking cannabis everyday since I was 17. Still to this day, I’ve never had Covid. Shrug 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t remember what it feels like to even be sober of cannabis for a 24hr period truth be told. I know it sounds horrible, to most, but I’m alive and well probably because of it. I’ve always believed it has healing capabilities. Maybe better if not smoked but that’s my preference and it works for me. 😁

Here's my story Doc, I suffered a CVA Left-sided Thalamic stroke right after ACDF surgery in Jan 2021 at the hospital. Left 3 days later using a walker. Week later, started therapy. Was put on 8 different meds for heart and pain health. The couple of meds for weakness, spasticity and rigidity in my right side didn't help, just made me rest for half the day. So in August 2022, turned 60. Got fed up, that's when I started trying out different CBD buds. After a half of joint of CBD THC-A, it was like, wow, I wasn't thinking about the pain, incredible. Even made the grass look greener. So in November 2022, ditched all the meds, and started experimenting with THC-O, , THC-B. I still take pain meds at night for muscle stiffness, but it's been a life changer for me, even helped with sleep. It's not a cure, but it's better than walking around zombified, taking pills all day

Told a friend of mine whose son has MS that cannabis, mainly CBD, really helps. She listened to me and told her son. He was in such bad shape that he was confined to a wheelchair and his wife had to take care of him. After starting on cannabis he is now able to walk with crutches and now holds a job taking care of the finances for the neighboring counties school district. The wife and I have been taking CBD for over 10 years. We eat 1-2 gummies a night, to help us sleep (both of us deal with pain). Neither of us have been sick in over 10 years....I mean not even the common cold. During the Coof scare, not only did we not get jabbed, but we also seldom if ever wore masks. I had covid before its outbreak was recognised. My husband and I were alone, with no help. I remember my trachea becoming blocked by phlem that I could not breath through and knowing I was dying. We are in our 70's. Luckily A few weeks before I had bought som CBD Oil for his fibromyalgia. He would not take it, so it was left by the side of our bed. I was in so much pain and hadn't slept for 4 nights. I was scared to take
' canabis', but I put a drop on my tounge and another drop fell in. I using all my knowledge of breathing I was able to break a hole in the phlem and catch my breath. Then I slept for 4 hours. On waking I took 3 more drops with increasingly good results I was able to look after my husband. CBD DOES EXACTLY WHAT JOHN SAYS IT DOES.

My father had Alzheimer's and was confused and sometimes aggressive. The GP had prescribed diazepam, but that made my father very drowsy and sleepy. I started looking for a substitute on my own initiative and that was CBD with THC. Fortunately, my father responded very well to that, was less aggressive and sleepy. Ultimately, the GP made this legal by writing a prescription for it. My father turned 92🙏🏽.

The pharmaceutical industry will do everything it can to negatively assess CBD+THC. Tranquilizers are a business model, people are made dependent 💰. Cigarettes and alcohol are the most legal drugs in the world.

Everyone in my huge family of over 20 people including young children got infected with the Covid 19 virus, except my 93 year old mother. We were baffled as to how she escaped infection even while she was hospitalized for pneumonia in January 2022, where she had a room on the Covid floor! She has been taking CBD for several years for anxiety and insomnia. It all makes sense now!!!

I’m 73, had upper left lung removed in 11/2019 due to lung cancer. I’m all good thanks to great VA doc. I’ve been using CBD for years as it helps me with arthritis pain and other things. I am at high covid risk due to age and missing a lung, I have not gotten covid. Also I did not get vaccination. And thanks for this, sending off to friends who thought I was nuts. Hoping they take advice now.

Dr John thank you for this study. My Dad had a terrible melanoma on his face he refused to use cannabis till he was on hospice. His tumor was huge on his face. I got the legal stuff done so I could give Dad RSO oil he refused to take it internally but allowed that it be put on his tumor. From his photos he had a great improvement/shrink ing of the tumor where the oil was applied and lived 6 months longer than the docs expected. I don’t know what may of happened if he had taken it internally or when he was first diagnosed but I was glad for the visible shrinking of the external tumor and his pain relief.
