The traditional institutions created the curse in the first case. If the Ibos are willing to get rid of the problem, the entire traditional institutions should jointly and publicly revoke the obnoxious stigmatisation.

Joe, should market his project and film qed. The OSU thing is not a big problem in igbo land. All his claims cannot be statistically proven. He has made a film let him market his film and not engage in fear mongering.

We do not have the OSU Caste System in Ohafia Abia State, I'm proud of this.
OSU Caste System should be abolished and all, I mean all traditional stools in Igboland must be involved in order for it to work.

This story is historically wrong partially because it represents only one way of becoming Osu in igboland. The speaker only referenced the case of people making themselves Osu by dedicating themselves to the gods to avoid capture . These group of people are not in the caste system. You could find them bearing names like Osu Eke, Osu Ocha and so on. The second group is made up of people dedicated by other men to the diety as a pledge . They could also be given to diety by a clan or family so that if he, the diety needs victim, he should take the Osu instead of them or their children . Bear in mind that human sacrifice was prevalent in the old Igbo society. To be clear, the caste system is an inhuman system that should no longer exist. We have now over grown these cultural practices and they should be abolished. For those afraid of dating or marrying Osu, you must be careful because if you believe this culture and marry Osu, you could have problems. But if you, like me know that no one was originally born Osu, you will have no problems. Love your neighbour as your self. We are all children of the same God.

Good job Joe Okechukwu but Osu in Igboland is much more complicated than just "slaves taking refuge in the shrines and their descendants" as well as those dedicated to the gods in the evil forest. Osu bloodline also (majorly) stems from those who are descendants of people who committed 'abomination' or were perceived to have come from a generation of those who committed 'abomination' and are treated as 'impure' lineages. In fact the majority of discrimination in Osu is from this perception that they are from lineages through a bloodline that was cursed due to an abomination committed somewhere in their lineages, not just because they merely came from slaves who took refuge in a shrine to avoid their captors. Osu is just a mere human perception that is very discriminatory and as such should have no place whatsoever in any modern society.

Nnamdi Azikiwe's "Accident of History" comment, or at least this filmmaker's interpretation of it, is only separating what they consider real Osus from the not-so-real Osus. In short, the Osus that they're advocating for (descendants of refuge seekers from slave capture) should not be mixed up with the real ones. That was not an attempt to change cultural perceptions. In my opinion, it only reinforces discrimination against the Osu idea in not condemning discrimination against the "real" Osu. Why should any member of the Ibo tribe be ostracized from Ibo society? This filmmaker is focused on marriage, but this attitude must permeate other aspects of societal activities.

Now I know why there are so many disunity among the Igbos, this is totally barbaric, when the travel the complain about racism while back home the practice racism within themselves

That's the truth. Majority of them to tend to marry non Igbos.

There was legislation abolishing it in 1956 and Zik comments against it too, but why are people still practicing it? The state governments should get involved in stopping it. It is inhuman.

I thought humans have sense😢😢😢😢..
It is unfortunate that someone could kiss an osu, sleep with an Osu, and even get a blood transfusion from an osu yet not marry one.
We are indeed senseless. How are we different from mosquitoes? How?
