There's always more than one way to do something but to make a loop in solid wire, I use one of the holes near your finger at 0:48. I find it easier than using the plier end as you are doing at 1:18. Just stick the wire in and turn the strippers a quick 180.

I have a hard time keeping a set of strippers, I usually heat the end of the wire with my lighter and pulling it off lol.

I prefered the compact strippers from klein and southwire when I was in the trade.... the "standard" strippers are awesome only because they cut so many different size machine screws. Hate the auto ones 😝
