I think this is one of the first tunes I heard where the bass played the melody along with the piano. I didn't know that was possible, so I thought it must have been some weird synthesizer effect. I would love to hear lots more from Alice!

'Children's Songs' is a desert island disc for me. Couldn't be without it. The varied colors are too delectable. Musical tapas!

Chick's piano trios don't get enough recognition that other piano trios do; I think only because the other trios stay together a whole lot longer. But Chick's piano trios, imho, are among his greatest achievements and contributions to jazz. Just think: Miroslav and Roy, John and Dave, Eddie and Steve, and now Christian and Brian. So varied and the musicianship is just outstanding. I especially love Chick's rapport with his drummers. Some of the stuff he's done with Roy is just uncanny.
