Future LED ZEPPELIN members JIMMY PAGE and JOHN PAUL JONES, both session musicians at the time, played lead guitar and bass, respectively, on "SUNSHINE SUPERMAN." This track was originally titled "FOR JOHN AND PAUL, " a homage to LENNON and McCARTNEY. This was one of the earliest records to use overtly psychedelic elements. Donovan downplayed the song's drug undertones, but they were undoubtedly there: "Sunshine" was a code name for LSD.

Never thought I'd ever hear the three & a half minute single version in stereo. For years I was used to the four and a half minute stereo version issued in 1969 on his Greatest Hits compilation. A vast improvement over Epic's awful reprocessed stereo version from 1966. Thanks!

It sounds to me like the 2005 stereo mix . It was on a special limited release of the whole album, all of it mixed in stereo for the first time, on the EMI label in England. All the songs sound much better. It's too bad the mono mix is still sold as the standard CD and MP3 version.
