I've been watching you and learning "power chords" through your video's. I'm not a "newbie" as I've been playing for over 50 years however, I gone periods of time without playing because my skill level had "leveled off". Since I've retired, I've gotten back into the Guitar, learning new songs and techniques as well as how to setup, upgrade and repair my own guitars. I have to Thank you though because you actually take the time (unlike many others) and emphasize finger placement, fret location etc. Your videos are easy to pause and play as you are learning. Just wanted to give you Props for your EXCELLENT teaching style. Thanks Marty... "You da Man!"

Every time I wish to learn a song, I type it in to Google and it's Marty's videos that come up. Seems like no matter which song, Marty already has a video. Thank you for that Marty. It really means a lot. There is nothing like the feeling of learning a new song. That is what really moves me.

Paul Rodger's quite a legendary and prolific vocalist of Free indeed, love his work on this song. Thank you for this one as always!

I was conscripted as drummer by my dad. This was the first song I was pressed into learning. I’ll always love this tune and still love the drums. Now I’m trying to learn “our” songs on guitar. Thanks for this one Marty!

Dear Marty, you’ve already taught me a handful of tunes. I bring them into my guitar lessons and we work on them together. As a professional editor I have a tip for your productions. When you move in for a closer shot, got tighter so we can see the fingering on the keyboard. You can still use that medium shot, but again, do a closeup of your left hand. Also when you’re describing which fingers go on which strings and frets, really slow those sections down so we can all get the fingering.

You’re my favorite online teacher and I think you do a great job and you have a great personality. Please make those tweaks and I think your Subscriptions will go up.

Thanks again Marty!

Thank you. Haven't played in years. Started playing again and realized that many of the songs that I learned to play by ear were being played wrong. Appreciate it.

Thank you again, Marty, another great 'refresher course and stretch exercises' lesson. Back in the day, I used to play a super simplified rhythm guitar part with my lead vocals in The Ward with the late great Johnny D (1965-81) playing the lead parts and the 'super' chords in the after school garage band adventures. Basically I'd play open-position Cowboy style power chords A5 G5 & D5 because I was just that much of a beginner compared to Johnny D and vocals were my strong point. It was all about impressing the girls & still sounding pretty good for a bunch of high school kids even after each of us finishing a six pack of beer. That G5 bit was actually a drunken discovery, an inversion I played by releasing the fretting finger pressure in the change from A5 to D5 and hitting the open D & G strings with an index finger knuckle of my pick hand as a fill to mask my 'slow & sloppy' chord changes. Typical teenage novice stuff.. I ended up with a pretty thick knuckle callus from that trick. LOL

Great lesson! Love the solo taught by scales, not note for note, which allows for creative freedom. I’m gonna loop the chords and play with the solo…

I like! you are the best ! I use your tutorials often!
They are all music that I like!
In my time in the 70s I learned the songs with difficulty with the turntable.

Been using these tutorials since I started playing and I can say this helped me learn how to play the guitar. Can’t wait to learn more of my favorite songs!

Some good stuff in there.
PK himself had a little more going on on the E string both verse and chorus, and a bit more 1/16th strumming over D hammer ons as opposed to the bluesy flick on here.
He varied it a bit but not a whole hell of a lot.
Most of us have been playing wrong for 50 years one way or another, so Hey !! ...

That Gibson 335 sounds awesome. For those on a tight budget check out the Ibanez AM53 semi-hollow body. Inexpensive & great sound. Thanks Marty.
