I absolutely adore this choreography.
It completely portrays Anna's youth and her desire for human connection. Having a guy to love was a foreign topic for her her entire life, why would anyone expect her to NOT take a chance and get a little touchy? She's young and she's naive and she's awkward. I think this whole song is perfect.

I never understood why Hans would learn so much choreography only to betray her

i like the detail of making Hans voice go higher when he says 'thats what i was going to say'. As when you lie your voice often goes higher. nice touch!

Why didn’t they get the actual voice actor to play Hans?? He’s a Broadway star

The fact that Patti's dress weighs 12 pounds has me questioning this choreography

I honestly really like this version of the song. Patti Murin and John Riddle sound so much more better here in the live performance than in the musical soundtrack and their jokes and quirky dance moves make Hans's betrayal a little more heartbreaking when you remember that Anna finally found someone she could relate to after being isolated for so many years. Also, Anna shoving Hans into her boobs was a lot funnier than it should have been

I can see why Hans wanted to betray her after this choreography

I don't know how I feel about this. First time a Disney production has made me question its decisions 😂

I'll say this: I LOVE THIS. I love Putti Murin, and she portrays Anna in such a youthful way. Her vocal range and quality for 8 shows a week is ASTOUNDING. She truly embodied Anna, and it breaks my heart that she left the show. But I'm so excited for what she does next!

This isn't quirky and awkward in a cute way like in the movie, this is weirdly sexual and Anna kind of comes off as an inappropriate aunt rather than an unsure young woman

Anna: **hand slides down Han's chest**

Adults: 😂😂

Kids: hey mom what is Anna doing to Hans?

a lot of people are pointing out and lamenting the awkward, stiff, and over-sexual choreography and chemistry (or lack thereof), but they fail to understand that that’s exactly the point of this scene, and that that is what makes it so great.

patti murin, the actress who plays anna, is stellar in her performance. her almost immature... fondling of hans here is precisely so as a result of her isolation and exclusion throughout her entire childhood (you can also see this very clearly in her ‘for the first time in forever’ performance) and this also plays in to the overarching theme of ‘true love’ in the entire story, as part of anna’s character development (in which anna realises that her supposed love for hans was superficial, and that her love for her sister, nurtured by warmth and compassion, is what’s right) (listen: the song ‘true love’ in the album).

hans, on the other hand, doesn’t respond to the ‘advances’ of anna—initially. you can very clearly see his confusion and hesitance. but as the song continues, he grows warmer and more attuned to anna, because he’s starting to realise that he can manipulate and exploit her (look at the hand grab and the twirling). the original movie was criticised for the inexplicable revelation of hans’ true nature at the end, but the broadway showcases this ‘slip’ here, which provides a hint that can foreshadow the plot twist and thus, temper it, in a way.

one critique i do have, however, is how dead the overall set is. the song is fun, lively, and exuberant, but nothing moves in the background to couple that. perhaps they couldn’t execute fancy manoeuvres on the GMA set, or perhaps it’s to further emphasise the stiffness of the scene, but it does take a toll on my enjoyment

I think they could have toned down the comedic factor just a little bit. It didn't feel romantic enough.

I think this interpretation is a perfect fit for the much older audience broadway shows gather in general!

idk this feels so forced like anna is lovable bc she's a little awkward, and i get that it's broadway, but i feel like they're trying too hard

I honestly love this version, I mean at this point we all know what happens in this story. It's not like we're gonna still be taking this romance seriously, so may as well have fun with it.

Plus making their relationship more awkward, forced, immature, and humourous plays into the themes of the intricacies of real life love that the Broadway musical introduced
