He's not talking about Free Will. He's talking about Behavioural and Cultural Education. Those are two very different things. To me, there is Free Will. I also believe it is temporary and limited. You can have infinitely different thoughts, but you are limited by what you know and how long until you have to rest, how long you live and so on. Also, every potential thought only ever has one outcome. Two different things can't happen, even though you can imagine those scenarios, and both are possible. You make a choice, and that choice has one outcome. That is Free Will. It is limited, it is temporary, and it has one outcome.

Behavioural Education is very different. Choices are even more limited to you as a child. Choices are taken away from you, and your parents dictate your life. That does not mean you don't have a mind as a child, nor does it mean you don't have choices. You do not have to conform to your education, and you do not have to follow what your parents teach you. You can also run away. There are many other options. Just because you might not rebel, might not flee, might not oppose your parents, does not mean you have no Free Will. It just means that it is more limited than what it would be when you're an adult and you live according to your own way of living.

Why should I believe a person who says he cannot control his own thoughts? Why would the biological lottery machine he carries in his head produce reliable thoughts? I CHOOSE to disagree with him.

What about the singular persons observations and choices? There are people who grow up in certain environments and leave that environment and aspire to live differently. Jacque displayed his own will by not reciting the pledge of allegiance as a child.

But this doesn’t appear to me to remove the basis for free will, we can also observe that people are able to change their circumstances and shape their own futures, some who grew up in poor families with tough upbringings become millionaires while others become prisoners, likewise some who grow up in rich families become drug addicts or ‘bums’ while others become ‘successful’

I respectfully disagree in this aspect. At least a partial form of free will based on one’s individual paradigm (free will with limits), must exist for consciousness, or a sense of self, to have any utilitarian purpose. consciousness is the driver of evolution, as animals make matter move. we have to go beyond Hume and Locke.
