Classic Game Room reviews BEAMRIDER for Intellivision from 1983 by Activision! Ride the Beam! RIDE IT! Beamrider is an awesome old school game that plays like a flat Tempest on an early '80s game console. Great gameplay, smooth visuals and some rad sound effects make Beamrider a MUST OWN NOW game on your IntelliVision or IntelliVision II. It's also available for Atari 5200, ColecoVision, ZX Spectrum and Atari 2600.

Such a simple idea, yet (visually) so well executed. This game is briliant!

You are very much welcome. Glad you enjoyed my gift. From one space shooter to another.

Finally since I subscribed to this awesome channel I got the opportunity to enjoy the classics that made my childhood, before I got an Atari I was introduced to video games via an Intellivision, so watching reviews like this and Night Stalker is a kind of top moment in CGR, now I'll be waiting for Atlantis for Intellivision.

Used to play this on the Commodore 64 as well. Looked exactly the same as good as my memory is. Thanks I forgot about this gem of a game.

Another great review by CGR. Bravo! I grew up on the Atari 2600 and Activision was my religion, yet....surprisingly enough, I had NEVER heard of this game until I recently got the Anthology cart for the GBA SP. O.o Anywho....it is now one of my favorites, and I wish I had discovered it as a kid. It plays and sounds just as great on the 2600 system, BTW. :)

Man I miss this game. So crazy to think i haven't played it in 30yrs! BeamRider & NightStalker were my favorite games when I was...six!

I think I have played this as a kid. The sound of speeding up, when the sentinel appears and the sprite when the ship is destroyed is so familiar... Anyway thanks for bringing back some memories and some intellivision love.

2:59 That was awesome. I've never managed to do that when I was a child.

BTW, Beamrider was based off The Last Starfighter (movie), wasn't it?

2600 version is pretty good, actually. Totally playable, fun and intense.
