Lol. In college, we had a shop teacher who used to regale us with cautionary tales of accidents that befell students and co-workers who fiddled with tools or didn’t use caution. They were often hilarious… the time, for instance when his shop teacher was showing the class how to use the table saw and his upper dentures fell out of his mouth, hit the blade and PING-ed off it, shattering and bits flew all over the class. Other ones involved severed fingers, etc.

Luckily, we only had one accident when one of the students cut the side of her finger off while cutting poster board with a box-cutter. We found the part of the finger and it was reattached at the hospital.

At the end of the year we knew that there was going to be a bonus question on the final exam. I jokes that it was going to be “name 5 ways to die in the shop while using a pencil”.
