Aren’t the majority of musical acts in the pop/ rock era, at least many of the more popular artist, groomed, their image created, and their image marketed by labels and producers? The story of Andrew wk isn’t so unusual in and of itself, it’s just how extreme, how conspiratorial it became. Honestly, how much of Taylor swift or Beyoncé is real and how much of it is image and persona?

The fact that he got Donald Tardy from Obituary to play drums for him should be a major goal. I am not sure if Donald still plays for Andrew WK, but he seemed to enjoy that time playing between Andrew and Obituary! I always wanted Andrew W.K. and Wesley Willis to do something together. Not necessarily an album or anything, but like a bit where they would be hanging out a TV channel such as on the old G4 or Adult Swim and riffing off each other... something wacky aling those lines.

I don't know about him being a "plant" seeing how he plays every instrument on his albums himself but I did see his old grind/hardcore band Kathode in Detroit sometime around 1997(ish) and he played drums and did vocals. He still does tours and I seen him play at this tiny Anarchist bookshop - thing in Lansing around 2007-8 and it was just him and his keyboards.
