It would be great if you could do a comparison of manifestos

I'm glad labour is getting out of the brexit tunnel vision. There are others issues to deal with.

The fact that your whole election cycle is about two months long has this American quite jealous.

@TLDR News the survey is broken: it asked me to fill out a response for all categories of "where are you from", so I submitted the same response multiple times

I'm not Labours biggest fan at the minute but if you still need the very simple idea explaining to you, I don't know what to say.

1. Negotiate a deal
2. Have a referendum on that deal
3. Go with the outcome of the referendum.

It's really not hard.

When you press next on the survey it just reloads the page and wipes your answers.

Honestly, I do respect that Labour is one of the only parties who don't consider this election as just a 2nd Brexit referendum but also want to stay loyal to their original values.

Saying "Brexit" with "simply explained", or "isn't very complicated" is like saying "Ice hot", or "Happy Tragedy". I wouldn't be surprised if it enters the urban dictionary as an entry under oxymoron.

Here's it laid out for the simpler of us
Tories: Will make us leave the EU with the deal
Brexit party: Leave with no deal then will probably be voted out not long after
Lib Dems: no second vote, just staying In the EU
Labour: A second referendum and then following the result of that referendum with certainty
Green party: *Tree house*

It occurred to me that I like Labour's approach to the Brexit process, and I think there's an approach here which could be applicable for future large-decision referendums. Specifically, I like the "have a referendum, if passed then let the politicians work on and approve legislation, then have another referendum to approve the legislation or cancel the process".

As I recall, there was a lot of hyperbole and other noise during the lead up to the Brexit referendum back in 2016, and a lot of people were either confused or didn't take the topic seriously. After seeing the Brexit activity over the last 3 years, I suspect most everyone is taking it seriously now and those who were confused by all the rhetoric have had time to see what its results could be. So, having a "final" referendum seems like a good idea.

Keep in mind that this type of multi-step referendum would be used rarely, and only for the really big decisions, not for decisions like recreational cannabis legalization, tax referendums for national educational initiatives, or referendums to amend laws to more accurately reflect current societal norms. Those "simple" referendums would be one-and-done affairs.

Brexit in or out I am ready now to give up my British Citizenship. Having lived in Germany for over 30 years. I am a European and will always Remain European. If Scotland decides to leave the Union. I will try to get Scottish Citizenship as my grandfather was born in Glasgow.

As a heavy leaning Remainer, I think Labour's stance is the most grounded. When people voted for the first Brexit refenrendum they were deceived about both the procedure and outcome (the EU would bend to our will, frictionless trading, smooth transition, etc....).

On the one hand, rejecting Brexit outright is clearly undemocratic.

On the other, the first referendum was only won by deceiving the people (remember the NHS bus promise?).

Having the second referendum *AFTER* agreeing on a new (hopefully better) deal is not
just merely a way to not undermine the people's voice, it actually empowers democracy, as people will be making an *INFORMED DECISION, * not one standing on empty promises.

As an American listening to this speech, I can tell you personally Corbyn is entirely right here. Do not copy us. Abort. We're a nightmare state, >__>

I still don't hear anyone saying that they are willing to go back to the People and ask them what kind of Brexit deal they want. Each party is just going to do their own thing, and pretend like they have the "will of the people" behind them.

Labour: Our policy is to negotiate a better deal and to put that deal to a referendum with remain as an option.

UK Media: LABOUR HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN FOR BREXIT

Labour: What? No, our policy is a referendum with a credible leave and remain option. Simple as.

UK Media: IT'S CLEAR AS MUD AND ABSOLUTELY INSANE

Labour: What's unclear about a referendum with remain?
