The Bibendum Entity

Friendly tyre company mascot or horrifying cryptid from beyond the stars?
Since at least the 1920s, people have reported encountering strange figures which look remarkably like the Michelin Man. Is there any truth to these encounters?

(its got a cool story at the end about a guy who saw a Michelin man thing with a light for a head, the illustration is spooky)

“now i’m not saying that the michelin man is some kind of ancient, undying, eldritch abomination, that would be against youtube’s terms of service”. thanks shrouded, i had a coughing fit from laughing

The modern bibendum is a fine enough company mascot but honestly they should bring back the classic michelin man. Smoking cigars and kicking the shit out of random thugs has a kind of swag aura around it.

I saw the Michelin man out on a jog last night, I asked if he was ok and he said, “ I’m fine, just tired”

the idea that an alien would put on this kids' moms nightgown is so funny to me

I think there may be a simple explanation for the first story. It's well known that gas stations used to place fiberglass Michelin Men in front of their shops, but some stations used cheap human sized inflatable versions instead. Knowing truckers, it wouldn't surprise me at all that one might have chained such an Michelin Man on to the back of his friend's vehicle when filling up at a gas station as a practical joke.

I think y'all are overlooking the idea that the Michelin man is actually an entity the founder encountered and used as a mascot. They aren't the Michelin man, the Michelin man is that

When I was younger than seven, I had the worst night terror of my life. It was the tire man. I remember he was so popular in tire commercials at that time. Whenever I told anyone of my experience, I would get laughed at. Now Im almost 60 and I still rememberer it. Thank you for this information.

The Michelin Man weirded me out so badly when I was a kid. My parents had to stop at the Michelin Tire shop, now and then. I'd stay outside because I didn't want to be attacked by the mummy that lived inside the shop. I'm 60 now and watching your video, I'm thinking "I knew it! I was right!" :D

My brother was walking down the road last night, sober as a judge. He felt silly telling me why he was sweaty and panting when he got back home. Mind you he's 53...but a form like this was looking at him and looking around, looking back at him while frantically waving its arms as to summon for something. He got closer to figure out what this was in the dark he couldn't locate it. We live in a small gated community. It was funny then, but now it's eerie.

I mean, if you really think about it... it's not hard to imagine a guy could've seen a bizarre entity at some point in his life and then was inspired to design the mascot of his company after it.

I love the comedic aspects of this video. It’s a nice change of pace and very well executed

"Did you know that in the early days the Michelin Man spent most of his time smoking cigars and kicking shit out of people?"
This video could have used a warning to not be drinking anything while watching.

I wonder if Dan Aykroyd had an encounter with the Mitchlin Man that inspired him to create Stay Puft in Ghostbusters. Akyroyd has said to have seen UFOs.

This is why I love Shroudeds channel. You could be traumatised watching a heavy true crime case then be invested in tire monsters.

If you're open to doing more urban legends from the US then there's a few from my former home state of South Carolina that no one else has really talked about. My favorite is the Scape Ore Swamp Lizard Man, a case which includes a very real bizarre police report. If you're not into cryptids then there's also the Gray Man, an entity that's said to be a bad omen of particularly severe hurricanes.

That story about the guy listening to music and turning around to see the michelin man next to him sounded pretty terrifying, even if he said he wasn't afraid or anything. Personally, when I saw too many spooks on the interwebs and find myself unable to sleep, something popping into existence as I turn around is quite a frequent fear.

When I was small back in about 1986 or so, I was staying at my grandparent's trailer, I looked out the window and swear the Michelin man was walking down the side scared me so bad I went shrieking into the other room. The memory is still so clear so many years later, this episode got to me lol thought I was alone in that fear! Love your channel my darling!
